Police have now arrested more than 2,500 students at pro-Palestine protests across the U.S., yet students continue to call for an end to the war on Gaza and universities' investment in companies that support Israel's occupation of Palestine. We speak to three student organizers from around the country: Salma Hamamy of the University of Michigan, president of the school's chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, about the commencement ceremony protest she helped organize, and Cady de la Cruz of the University of Virginia and Rae Ferrara of the State University of New York at New Paltz about police crackdowns on their schools' encampments. De la Cruz was arrested in the UVA raid and banned from campus without an opportunity to collect any of her belongings. She says repression has strengthened the resolve of many protesters, who are willing to risk their academic futures to push for divestment. "All of us there felt like we have more time on our hands … than the people of Gaza," she explains, "We would hold it down for anything."

How is Hamas still able to fire rockets into Israel?They spent 16 years amassing weapons and creating underground tunnels under schools, homes, hospitals, and any civilian facility to launch brutal attacks on Israel. That is how the billions of $$$ for welfare has been spent in Gaza. And that is where most of the current aid to Gaza is going.

The bravery and moral courage shown by Americans protesting at Universities around the country is incredible and overwhelming to witness. Not all of the protestors are students. Many of the protestors are faculty and members of the community. Also, worth noting that many of the protestors are Jewish.

From what I saw there were protesters and protest agitators. The agitators were well funded from outside the campus. I think the students were well meaning but overall quite dumb. They would shout chants they’ve been taught and know little if anything about the conflict. They were led to setup encampments and intimidate other students at the behest of a well funded group of agitators. I did see counter protesters but didn’t see any white supremacist. So that’s a red hearing Hopefully the FBI is involved investigating the funding for these professional agitators. As far as the students if they broke into a building or setup encampments that were clearly not allowed suspension and/or expulsion in order.

I wish these students would move their protests to just outside the universities so the schools would be powerless to take action against them. I fully support the protests but don’t want any of the students to get in trouble. I think what we need is a big well-publicized demonstration in front of the White House or capital so more than just the students are carrying the burden of protesting.

@@katyharries2526 I think you’re confused, the investment not directly in defense company. Any connection is likely through funds that may have some investments in the defense industry. Secondly why would a small minority of students be able to throw a public tantrum much like a baby and get their way. If they don’t want their money going to things they do t want, they have options. For one the Iranians have made a generous offer to scholarships in Iran. And if they really want to help Palestinians they can volunteer to help deliver aid or they can volunteer to help Hamas guard the ammunition stashes in the tunnels.
