This video will show you how to create an IBCS-styled column chart small multiple. All you'll need is a native Matrix visual and a single DAX measure in Power BI.
The matrix that provides an explanation of your data before you begin to focus on the numbers displayed on the screen.
Green (green-blue) is good, red is bad. Large red is really bad.
Filled is a fact. Outlined is a plan. Simple, clear and efficient.
No additional costs for custom visual licenses, no dependence on third-party developers of custom visuals, and no need to learn another language like Vega, or Vega-Lite (for Deneb custom visual). It works in a built-in Power BI visual.
Visualization is based on IBCS guidelines, but it's not produced, not certified, not authorized, not endorsed by IBCS® www.ibcs.com/

First and foremost, I love your initiative to develop this approach. As I understand, with this vertical column charts you can't select specific data points for a custom tooltip or page drill though, right? Besides getting more flexibility on how they look if I wanted to put this visuals in a static report (ppt), what advantage does this method have over using a paid IBCS tool? I am curious on your thoughts.

Thank you. You're right regarding tooltips for specific data points. As I know Power BI built-in visuals are under re-development now, so I hope this limitation is temporary. > what advantage does this method have over using a paid IBCS tool I consider this approach will reduce entry barrier for implementing IBCS (smaller organizations will have a chance) and also there are companies that don't use custom visuals at all (even certified) for some reasons (security etc.). Also instead of rebuilding an existing report from scratch (to migrate to paid IBCS visuals) it will be possible just to add new chart columns to the existing tables/matrices (or switch existing columns from beings numeric to visual). Hard to add anything specific for static report use case.

Bloody hell. This is quite some code. Is it worth it, though? How does measure perform under real life data with few milion rows? Time spent designing and writing that measeure in my opinion it's just exaggeration.

>Bloody hell I see why you're scared. But the idea is that once I've spent a lot of time writing the code, the code can be reused. I can even put all the code into a calculation group and reuse in multiple projects. More complicated visualizations, like waterfalls, may require some a few changes (to replace hardcoded table names), but things like IBCS AC, PY chart, AC-PY, (AC-PY)% charts can be generated by creating an empty measure and applying an existing calculation group (which can be imported) filter to the table. I'll make a video about using calculation groups for this purpose later. >How does measure perform under real life data with few milion rows It will take the same amount of time to make all DAX calculations required for a table with just numbers and for a table with SVGs. Same data, same calculations. And chart rendering time is based on number of visual elements, not of number of rows in the underlying data table.
