Thank You. I am not an expert with the seeder and especially in making custom seed plates. But I know a quality piece of equipment when I use one. Thanks for watching

Interested in knowing how your seed spacing was. I noticed that the back wheel was not rolling consistently. Thanks for the video.

The seed spacing was not as good as I had hoped so I went through it twice and everything was fine. I think the seed plate that I made needed more work. I have used the seeder several more times since I made this video with standard plates and it has been fine. I guess the learning curve was a little steeper than I thought. Thanks for watching

Have used the same seeder for two seasons now. No problems , does the job and a real time saver. We sell red beets and always had a problem problem getting a good stand with the Earthway seeder. Too many misses and two many multiple seeds dropped. Do have to add that, only pelleted seed is used. Have tried standard beet seed in it. Because the amounnt of beets we plant never change the seed plate. Used an Earthway, mounted. Inn the back of the garden tractor for planting larger seeds, ie, coorn, beans and peas. Beets are planted, in a group of three rows, six inches apart . Each row is fifty feet long, total planting is at least nine rows. Cultivation is done with a high arch, double wheel hoe made by Hoss. Am able to straddle the two outside rows and get the job done in one pass. My soil is very fine, no rocks, etc.

We used the earthway for years and always had issues with it, sometimes having to reseed. The Hoss seeder was reliable and worked pretty well. I am still working on making my own seed plates better, l think after another season I should have that down. I wish we had fine soil here, rocks and clay are about all we have. Thanks for watching

Did forget to mention, I ordered the metal plates to have the handles offset. This way I can easily walk along side of where I am planting. At age 82, am too old to walk like a duck. By the way, am located in the PNW. (South central Washington state)

@@jackgraham3393 I will have to check and see if the offset handles will work for in our raised rows, sounds interesting. Age is just a number; I suspect you can do about anything you want. It gets a little too cold in Washington State for me, I think I will stay in the south

I think there is always some of that, but for the most part I am very happy with the hoss garden seeder. In this video I made the seed plate (first time) and it wasn’t perfect, but as the season went on I got better with the seeder (and making plates). Thanks for watching

I need to replace my Earthway because most of the seed plates are cracked. Replacing them is almost just as expensive as a new seeder. The main reason I’m thinking about upgrading is because I want something that lasts and I think that thinning your row crops would be a lot easier if your seeder wasn’t so imprecise often dropping multiple seeds at the same time. I’ve seen reviews where people say the Hoss is too heavy, so they end up buying a Jang seeder. Lightweight is nice, but the Hoss seems like it’s built to last a long time. What do you think? Thanks

I bought the Hoss because I wanted something that would last a lifetime. I am absolutely sure my grandchildren and maybe great grandchildren will be using my Hoss seeder long after I am gone. The Hoss is not perfect and it does have a learning curve, but given the choice I would buy it again. Good luck and thanks for watching

How did you cover the seed and plant at the same time

After the seed going through the seed plate, the seed drops in between the disc colter plates into the farrow. A chain and the kick stand drag Immediately behind the plates and covers the seed. Thanks for watching

I bought one in spring of '23, I was going to put linseed oil on the handles but after seeing how rediculously expensive linseed oil is , I decided not to put it on there.

All my wood handles have been treated with linseed oil over the years, but I haven’t done it lately. I didn’t realize the price had gone up, thanks for the heads up.

Two corn seeds stuck in 1 hole equal no corn .sorry have had no good luck with my hoss seeder.bought a Jang has some roller problems but more hope than my hoss.
@PossumRidgeFarms

The Jang is a fine seeder. With the Hoss seeder, you should not have two seeds in the same hole if your seed plate matches the size of the corn seed you are using. I have made a couple of seed plates to deal with this issue. Good luck with your corn and thanks for watching
