@@decmadinefuckin 3 months into sheet metal roofing one of my bosses fell off an A-frame ladder and died days later. Wasnt even on the roof and was only 6 feet off the ground. Doesnt take much to take a life

Used are mostly weathered and tested and faults in new tiles are only found after the leaking starts but which one is cracked big costs for rework

Only a fool cleans a tile roof. People are starting to do it in Britain but it’s just pointless and an imported idea from The US where they don’t even really have tile roofs. These already look worn right from the start so they are never gonna look tarnished are they?

There's always a few chipped or broken tiles in those packs. Best to throw them on to the scaffolding to save having broken tiles in the way on the roof. The sharp edge of a broken clay tile can easily puncture the membrane if left all over the roof, too.

@@user-yg5wr3xo7rэто либо цпч, либо керамочерепица. У них есть "зубы", которыми цепляются за обрешётку. У нас ещё любят (по русскому обычаю для надежности) закрепить кляммером, либо просто саморез вхерачить, в европе просто придерживаются инструкции и оставляют просто такой уложенной

Ни каски, ни страховочной привязи. Черепица отличное покрытие. В дождь не шумит и на солнце не греется, в отличии от стальной кровли.

@@user-ze4eb8nr7j насчет ветра не знаю. Но, например у нас, нормативная снеговая нагрузка 240 кг/кв.м. Плюс масса квадратного метра черепицы. Выходит довольно много. И далеко не все учитывают эти данные при проектировании стропил и обрешетки. Лично видел деформированную крышу, покрытую черепицей.

они выкидывают бракованную черепицу. от хорошего ветерка любую крышу снесет. а черепицу в качестве кровли люди используют уже тысячу лет.

Bring that roof to Mississippi and it wouldn’t last a few days into hurricane season 🤣 Edit: we generally use steel for roofing, 10 ft 29 gauge galvanized steel. Only saying this bc I’ve seen about 4 people so far say we use shingles. While shingles are used on some homes, it’s not on ours as we know how weak they are.

у меня соседу строители так собрали, говорят за счёт веса сама себя будет держать, а после урагана собирали всей улицей в мусорку. хорошо что другие дома от летающей черепицы не сильно пострадали.

Typically around 60-70 Kg per square metre. So, maybe 4-5 metric tonnes on a medium sized house.

Roofers on the sites I've seen, only left either the 2nd or 3rd row not nailed, every single row got nailed but one row. I asked why and they said, if someone wants to replace the facia and soffit they can slide that row back, remove the lower row and crack on and it's easy to put back.

I've stocked shelves. Nowhere near the amount of work that it takes to put a roof on a building. Or the expertise needed to reply all the different types of systems that are out there. People make me laugh when they tell me I did roofing. Yeah what did you do carry shingles. Come work on a job where it's a commercial system and you have to rip the old system off and we'll see who's a roofer

I love slate, especially seeing it on older houses that still have their original slate, back then these workers were artistic with their placement, I live in the north east and their are many victorian, Edwardian and even Georgian homes here in Providence, RI, and the homes with original slate are so ornate with patterns, colors, shapes, just everything, homes back then were built to be unique and not just quick.

Every 4th tile should be nailed, if if was in a high wind area then you can do more. Hurricane Charlie in the 80’s saw a few tiles/slates get blown off but a lot of the clay tiles across Europe have been there for centuries.

We live in earthquake country. No battens but 2 Ring shank Stainless or copper nails each shingle tiles

Honestly guys this roof is solid. It’s not gonna blow off .. it’s nailed enough to withstand uk weather systems. I have enough experience to know this … I sleep well at night ….I appreciate all the comments as your all entitled to your opinion. I will keep posting content of my roofing 🥃🥃

They hook over the wooden battens . Each tile has to nibs on the back the hole them in place
