It's nice to see that you are taking it easy, without getting stressed. As two days ago I only did 700 words, yesterday I was like "OMG I must do 2600", which I did haha, but it was hard. I'm going to follow your example, because progress is progress! By the way, I'm glad to see you have more subscribers (and views) everyday!

That's an AMAZING word day!! Someone else commented about how that feeling of needing to make up words from previous days leads to burnout faster which is something that I wanted to share because of how strongly I realized that's true for me. But progress is progress :). Thank you so much! KZfaq and this writing community has been such a blessing!

Congrats on keeping on track for NaNo! This is my first time attempting NaNo, but I'm being very loose about it. I'm working on fleshing out my characters and the plot right now, and when I finish my outline, I'll start the first draft! Because I won't start my first draft for another week or two, I'm hoping I'll write the first 20,000 words of my first draft this month. I can't wait for the weekend writing sprint; hopefully, I'll get a lot of writing done then!

YAY! Well done for getting a great start to your rewriting. It is really encouraging to see how so much crucial information comes together during the *rewrites* rather than the earlier drafts. Also, I love the progress tracker! Personally, I LOVE NaNoWriMo and I always demand 50 000 of myself. However, the most important thing about NaNo is writing consistently. I have won NaNo with really bad technique in the past: writing a whole bunch of words then burning out for days, and then scrambling to win at the last minute. This is actually the first year I have been more holistic and consistent. I know loads of writers who don't go for 50 000 for whatever reason. But they do write, and they do reach personal goals. So I hope you stick with your "progress is progress" maxim, because it matters for us, whether we do NaNoWriMo or not. Looking forward to the next vlog!

I am beyond thrilled that this rewrite is validating all of the groundwork I've laid out in my rough drafts before this. I'm glad you're trying the more consistent path this time, I can't wait to hear how it goes! Thanks :)

*pauses mid video to type this* I am ahead in NaNo, and STILL feeling the pressure of gettting the 50k. Though, also oddly, I'm slowing down as I'm writing to make things good, so it's this weird mix of getting enough done every day, but also not pushing myself too much at once... I've been realizing recently that taking the scenic route in your draft is okay. It's okay to not be the most efficient in your drafting process. Like you say, progress is progress, and no matter how big or small, it is good. *gets to the end* Your progress is amazing though! I'm glad you are also happy about it, and not being as concerned about the word count. I watched this in between two writing sprints (I'm writing a really intense part where I have to write my MC obseriving her little sister getting injured/fixed up.... So, I'm taking longer breaks between short sprints to calm down from the intensity.), and it was very encouraging to see ^_^ I'm about a day ahead, and have consistently been about that much throughout the week. Though, I'm letting today be a low day if I can, because I'm trying to do a high day tomorrow (Somewhere between 3-5k, since Saturday needs to be a low day too.) Trying not to be as obsessed about word counts, and just figuring out details on how my story is flowing. But yeah; thank you for sharing, great video. ^_^
@SaraLubratt
@SaraLubratt 3 жыл бұрын
I like the way you defined that, the scenic route. That's awesome Gail, I'm glad you let the day you left this comment be a lower word day in prep to do a high word day. How did that higher word day go?
@gailc.m.victor
@gailc.m.victor 3 жыл бұрын
@@SaraLubratt Thanks ^_^ it was a new analogy that came to me while typing this. Yeah; I just do better writing higher and lower days; though over each week, it tends to even out to be a bit more consistent. I got 4459, I think? So, not quite 5k Friday, but will try again this week ^_^ I've been ending the day since then 2 days ahead of schedule, so probably will try to keep that lead going and build on it when I can. And if I need break days; then hey. I have built it in for the 50k goal. *nods*

Wooty wooot it's Sara! I did pause the video and take 30 seconds to just center myself. Thank you, that's never a bad idea. I think my biggest goal this Nano isn't hitting 50k, it's learning to love the process and not see less than 1667 as a failure. It's not a failure, it's progress. What board game did yall play? I think I'm going to rearrange my writing area again to include a board game table. I was fine playing games by myself before the Pandemic but now, holy yowza, I pretty much have to! Want to hear something funny? One of my favorite games of all time to play is...Pandemic. I have several of the expansions and it's a blast. I think I'd be better served to get family to play games on Zoom as well. They're all together but I'm way far away from them. I'm trying to get some good words in today since I'm off so lemme get back to it. Hot soup is hot ;) Don't worry, I do that all the time. DE= Dragons Everlasting. Keep up the good work friend.

I'm so glad you took the time to pause the video. I think that's a very healthy goal for NaNo. We played a game called Can't Stop. Lol that's super ironic that that is your favorite game to play. Hot soup is indeed hot. Lmao not Dragons Everlasting but also sorta. Amazing. Thanks!

Wow! Draft 3 already!?!? That's awesome! I'm so excited for you and ready to hear all about how this rewrite goes! It must feel incredibly satisfying to know that u r almost done! I also had a random question, if DE is a series, do you plan to have any time jumps in between the books? I'm interested to know because there's a 6 month to a year time jump in my series for every book. Great video!
@SaraLubratt
@SaraLubratt 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gio! Lol I wouldn't say almost done, but getting a little closer every day! I think I've mentioned that DE is a series in some of my earlier videos, but I'm not sure if I have recently, so yes :) it is. A three book series that takes place over a year and a half and there are either no or very small time jumps between the books, like a matter of days or weeks, so not really. Thanks!

NaNoWriMo stands for national novel writing month where you challenge yourself to write 50,000 words in the month of November. And instead of saying NaNoWriMo every time, some people say nano in short.

Yup! As Sasmita answered for me, it's short for NaNoWriMo when writers across the world try to write 50,000 words, typically in a fast draft in an effort to get out the first draft of a story, no matter how messy. But NaNoWriMo is a bit of a mouthful so I shorten it to NaNo :)
