I still feel like ACC is going into the fidelity of the steering column through FFB rather than RF2’s more communicative but to me over saturated FFB. That being said, RF2 seems to nail GTEs, ACC GT3s and iRacing LMP2s and F3s. We can choose now what to race if ACC and RF2 get the competition right.

To be fast in Rf2 you need to be driving over the limit at all times. It's fun, but I just intuitively feel that there is not enough grip below the limit. To get the tyres to grip up, you can't be timid, you have to lean on the tyre hard.

Great video ermin! Lately I feel ACC portrays more of a realistic driving style, the cars feel really planted, you can feel the weight of the car, but in rfactor 2 I feel the cars are very reactive and twitchie, way more than what they should be, even though ffb and tyre feel better in rfactor2, that doesn’t mean that they feel more real. I believe ACC did a great job creating a pure simulator, it may not be as enjoyable to drive as rfactor , but for me is more of a real feel. PS: ermin I wanna see you rally!!!

I feel this. After the Nurburgring 24hr event I booted up ACC the very next day, after having driven rF2 for dozens of hours in preparation, and had a small epiphany moment. It immediately hit me that ACC really was the more well-rounded GT simulator across the board. The gaps in rF2's physics engine need prioritizing, and they need fixing fast if they want to compete along their stated goal of 'being the most realistic simulator on the consumer market'.

@Luhmixer

What you call planted is based on high inertia values but honestly, I think the whole thing in ACC is totally over the top. Aris V. has used exactly this method in the Power & Glory Mod when he converted GT Legends content to GTR2. The cars then actually drove more controllably in the limit range because they were less hectic and you could drift better, just like you would wish for old cars. And the AC Cobra in Assetto Corsa drove almost exactly like the one in the P&G mod and I thought that was real and much better than in GT Legends itself. Until I drove the AC Cobra in rFactor2 and wondered why it was so agile and not like the fishing boats in distress in AC. Then I studied the data and saw that the Cobra weighs just 1000kg and then I realised that the sluggish behaviour that dampens the hectic reactions is overdone in AC and feels just as sluggish and spongy in ACC. A very experienced modder has confirmed my observations in this respect at least for AC after he gained insight into the physics data. On a single screen the sluggish behaviour might not be that noticeable, but with Real FOV on a triple screen or even better in VR it feels quite off. rf2 feels much more natural and connect in comparison, just like a GT3 should and not so heavy
@titolieb2689
@titolieb2689 3 жыл бұрын
@@Luhmixer yeah I mean both have their defficiencys, probably the acc engine wouldn’t recreate good car behaviors other than gt3 and gt4, but even that it’s still a little bit too heavy is still better recreated than rfactor, this is my opninion, I could be completely wrong. Also if you watch some gt3 car start sliding they behave more like acc than rf2,.

Great stuff ! New to rFactor - but so far its a very good look and interaction ! I have trouble with this and Automobilista 1 & 2 due to the inability (and general oddness) to finding and re assign buttons. There seems to be no way to lookup ? I emailed the gurus and they told me "not possible" with windows even though I referred to several other sims that of course allow things like finding a button assignment by pressing that button, or using a TEXT lookup. Is there any way to do this ? This is close to a deal breaker for me. It seems the button assignment screen(s) for certain SIMS are creepy similar (AM1 AM2 and rF2). Maybe its an opportunity for 3rd party addon ! PS I abandoned AM1 due to these odd screens and many unaccountable issues with buttons.

The tires were fine in ACC on lap 1. They should be between 27.4 - 28.0. Too far above or below that, and you'll see the centers of the tires start to bulge out or sink in the the graphic. Realistic and properly modeled tire pressures are one reason I like using ACC to learn setup. Too much of rFactor 2's setup require "cheesing" and wonky numbers to be quick. Not to mention some absolutely insane default setups.

Damper/Friction/Inertia at 0. Interpolation at 1 or 2. Use 'smoothing' in game to get rid of the grain and spiky forces. Set FFB strength to taste. The car FFB multiplier should be somewhere between 0.5 and 0.7 on most of the GT cars in order to get rid of the clipping. If you find you want more resistance on the wheel, just turn up the Natural Damper a little bit, but if you go too far it'll slow your reaction times to car behavior. Hope that helps.

@Ermz 3 жыл бұрын
Suppose this is a good case study to briefly explain the differences in FFB engines between rF2 and ACC, because it appears a few people watching don't understand (which is fine). For Direct Drive wheel-bases ACC is designed to operate with Dynamic Damping at 100% and gain between ~40 to 60% (to strike a middle ground between clipping and lowering signal resolution). For Direct Drive wheels, Minimum Force and Road Effects should be at 0%. These are additive 'canned' effects to go onto the raw signal in order to help less detailed gear and belt-driven bases. Allow me to reiterate: Both the developers of the game, and the developers of the wheel base recommend keeping these at 0%. Conversely, rF2 has very spiky and grainy FFB in its raw state, so you're working backward from a different starting point. There is *too much* detail to begin with. The goal here is to use the in-game smoothing to create useful forces while removing the grain. You then use a minimal amount of interpolation filter on the Direct Drive base itself in order to catch what's left over. Adding artificial Road Effect forces into ACC would not do anything useful for this comparison, nor is it an effect I desire more of. I hope that explains why. If not, there are videos of Aris explaining this in greater detail you can watch here on KZfaq.

@@Ermz I have SC2, and I'm running around 75 % road effects and it's brilliant. At 0 % road effects, I can barely feel the kerbs / bumps. Maybe it's because I don't like heavy steering feel - I'm using just around 30 % gain. I have no comparison, but in real life videos, I haven't seen too many GT3 drivers use very heavy steering, so I tend to use somewhat smaller forces in GT3s. I think, that I should be able to feel the kerbs and rougher road clearly in my hands - when I go in my road car over rougher road / bumps, I can definitely feel it a lot. In addition to DD I have motion, g-seat with seatbelt tensioner and tactile and it blends in really good experience, when I set the road effects on DD to 0, it feels very weird. You can see that you are running over kerb, you can hear it, you can feel it in your butt and shoulders via motion. The missing feeling in the hands is killing immersion for me. Once I turn it up, it's awesome :) I know it's recommended by developers to run road effects at 0, but it feels way better to me to use it. Maybe if I was running higher gain with heavy feel, I wouldn't need to run the road effects so high. Maybe it doesn't add any useful info to the FFB, but for me immersion is the king :)

ACC has the most car specific data, and seems to be the most accurate (it's mostly empirical). RF2 has the most technically impressive physics and tires. It's interesting because ideally we'd want RF2 style physics getting to ACC's accuracy. The others all have issues, Iracing isn't simulating the right tire types for example, it's also mostly empirical like ACC but isn't as accurate.

Opinions are all subjective. I prefer Ducati over Japanese sport bikes as I want that low end v-twin torque, my twin brother is in love with his GSX-R as he wants to bang the rev limiter. I prefer rFactor because it looks and feels better to me, he says no way ACC is much better. Difference in opinion is beautiful because if we all liked the same products, the world would be quite a boring place with no variety, no competition. All that aside, rFactor 2 is the better driver.

I do find in VR rfactor 2 (except for car interiors) tracks give so much more sense of presence and graphics look sharper over the whole screen in my opinion. It does miss some eye candy, but ACC except for the car interior even on epic settings track looks so cartoonish and graphics look like they are compressed when driving. Think this is an Unreal engine issue where only stuff really close is every detailed and can look really nice but in distance everything looks like a water painting even on epic.
@titolieb2689
@titolieb2689 3 жыл бұрын
The thing with acc is that it’s more important to have the resolution closer to 200% rather than have the graphics at epic. The closer you get to 200% the sharer it looks, but it requires really good hardware

Hmm so ACC is more geared towards rack steering ffb compared to RF2? Is that why Iracing and ACC both feel numb? I guess the real car mgt not translate the same amount of tire feedback as it does within RF2 but i know for sure if I wanted to get the most realistic experience of a certain track, im going to RF2 10/10. Yes ACC looks nice but who the fuck cares when your trying to race or hotlap, its all about physics and ffb in sim racing and RF2 has it nailed down

@Ermin Hamidovic The rF2 GTE and GT3 don't slide like that, it's your driving that is bad. Even without TC and ABS (I drive without by choice), I hardly ever slide like this. And then what is this story of proactive and too saturated FFB ? This is absolutely wrong, the FFB of rF2 is 100% RAW and completely derives from the physics engine which itself is a real reference. You unjustly question the realism of rF2, which on the contrary is a real reference, and we see some commentators playing parrots stupidly. Really disappointed with your approach which I do not find relevant. ACC is not in question, I am not judging ACC, just to say that rF2 is a major reference in terms of realism, which you have unfairly criticized. You are clearly neither a fanboy nor an rF2 fan.
