Loco ride in WDP4 locomotive in SHF mode got the honor to haul the AC superfast Express through the beautiful greenery atmosphere on a rainy morning. Here in this video take a look, how loco pilot put the notches from 1 to 8 in an EMD locomotive.

Stunning video. Thanks for actually showing the LP handling the controls....most footplate videos are shot with the camera staring uselessly out of the windshield..our present locos are computer and microelectronics driven..so the controls are more important than staring outside. Thank you.!! Due to slippery wet conditions we can see the sanding being used at 3:22.

USE OF SAND... It is used when rails are wet. Actually there is a compartment for filling sand. When loco engages a turn, it spills the sand to increase the friction between wheels and rails.. Hope it answers lots of doubts..

@@ad_akp1662 It is known as "Independent Brake". It is only applicable for locomotive.. While the lever with SILVER colored handle( to the left ) is known as "Automatic Brake" which is applicable for the whole train..

Excellent ! Instead of wasting the golden chance of riding in the cab by mindlessly letting the camera stare out of the windshield , you have in great detail shown the controls of this state of the art loco run by onboard computer and micro processors, being operated by the LP. You deserve a medal for this.

That is for leading the engine on either sides. If it is on lead on one side the engine will lead and on the other side it has to be on test.

Not only the below mentioned coment but in wdp and wdg locos, the loco pilot has to honk within an an interval of 1 minute. If that doesn't happen the loco will come to a halt and the engine will turn off. This measure is taken to avoid accidents and also to drive people and animals away

There will be a security system Incase LP falls asleep then if no control Is done then engine comes to halt if about honking trains with great speed have to continuously honk to keep people and animals aware
