Rangeela (transl. 'Colourful') is a 1995 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film written, directed and produced by Ram Gopal Varma. It stars Urmila Matondkar, Aamir Khan, and Jackie Shroff. The film was A. R. Rahman's debut Hindi film with an original score and soundtrack, as his previous Hindi releases were dubbed versions of his Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films.
Rangeela released on 8 September 1995, and proved to be a major box office success. The film received critical acclaim upon release, with particular praise directed towards the film's soundtrack and Matondkar's performance, thus proving to be a breakthrough for her. It was screened at the mainstream section of the International Film Festival of India.[3]
At the 41st Filmfare Awards, Rangeela received a leading 14 nominations, Best Film, Best Director (Varma), Best Actor (Khan) and Best Actress (Matondkar), and won 7 awards, including Best Supporting Actor (Shroff), Best Music Director (Rahman) and Special Jury Award (Asha Bhosle for "Tanha Tanha").
A street-toughened orphan by the name of Munna (Aamir Khan) is befriended by some kind folks, whose effervescent daughter Mili (Urmila Matondkar) soon grows to be his best buddy. Both gravitate toward the Mumbai movie industry. While Mili finds occupation as a movie extra, Munna earns his livelihood selling movie tickets in the black market.
Mili has ambitions of becoming an actress. Fortune glances her way when she dances her way into a movie star's attention. This actor, Raj Kamal (Jackie Shroff), arranges for her to be auditioned for the heroine's role in his upcoming film called Rangeela. Mili's shortcomings amount to distractions, but thanks in no small way to Munna and Raj, she lands the role.
Raj and Munna both fall for Mili, but Mili is too busy making the movie to notice any of this. She starts spending a lot of time with Raj during the filming. Munna tries many times to tell Mili that he loves her, but he is unable to, or Raj gets in the way. Eventually, feeling inferior, Munna decides to leave Mili to Raj, who can give her a better life than he can. The matter is not resolved though, as Mili hears of this on the film's opening night. She asks Raj to help her find Munna, which he does after realizing that Mili seems to love Munna and not him.
Mili stops Munna midway, misunderstandings get cleared up and the lovers unite.

What a brilliant director … The way he thinks about the minutest details in a story is simply beyond leagues of so many successful directors… From a thin source of inspiration he cud create wonders on the screen…. Simply superb technician… If only he concentrates a bit more on making films we can see masterpieces again…. Hope to see the old RGV again … Nice interview… Mr Anji is turning out to be a great interviewer…

Thank you for such content. RGV is a brilliant director no matter what people say about him. Rangeela was released when I was in 2nd class, and guess what? Today, as well in 2023, I'm 34, and I still watch these movie songs. That's the magic of RGV direction, AR Rahman music. Thank you so much for your contribution to the film industry.

నేను 7th క్లాస్ ఉన్నప్పుడు రిలీజ్ ఐంది రంగీలా సెన్సేషనల్ సినిమా. మా మదర్ ఇంకా పక్కింటి ఆంటీ రంగీలా చూసి ఇంటికొచ్చి ఎం సినిమా ఇది సిగ్గు లేకుండా పొట్టి బట్టలేసుకొని ముడ్డి తిప్పుతది మూతి తిప్పుతది అని తిట్టుకున్నారు, పిల్లల్ని తీసుకెళ్లకుండా మంచి పని చేశాం అనుకున్నారు. టీవీలో పాట వస్తే ఆ పాత అయ్యేదాకా ఆఫ్ చేసేవాళ్ళు. అలా చేయడం వల్ల ఎప్పటికైనా రంగీలా చూసి తీరాల్సిందే అని ఫిక్స్ అయిపోయా.. కొన్నేళ్ల తరువాత ఇంటర్ లో ఉన్నప్పుడు ఫ్రెండ్ ఇంట్లో వీసీపీలో చూసా. సూపర్ సినిమా. థీయేటర్లో చూసుంటే అదిరిపోయేది.

Interview చాలా బాగుంది. మాలాంటి సాధారణ ప్రేక్షకులకు మాత్రమే కాదు ఔత్సాహిక దర్శకులకు కూడా ఇది మంచి పాఠం అని చెప్పడం అతిశయోక్తి కాదు. చాలా విషయాలను RGV చక్కగా విశ్లేషించారు. ఇంకో విషయం ఏమిటంటే ఈ interview RGV కి కూడా ఒక lesson (ఆత్మ విమర్శ చేసుకోగలిగితే). ఏదో ఆదరాబాదరాగా కాకుండా, ఆయన తీసే సినిమాల మీద అంత time కానీ, effort కానీ (కధ , music etc.) పెట్టి తీయగలిగితే ఇంకా కొన్ని గొప్ప సినిమాలు చూడగలం.

Irony is...Why RGV talks only about hit movies since many years he never referenced a utter flop movie in an interview..and this person says will treat hits and flops equally( simply he says i never worried about result after film completed)..why No interview made on Rann or why no interview on AAG which was epic disaster..Sir if u really Treat hits and flops equally why not talk about what made AAG an epic disaster..What are your thoughts behind making AAG or nishabd etc..This really helps young film makers know more on ur state on mind during a flop film making..Even though i enjoy this series i interview i Wish u make even on flop films..

He likes to talk but the interviewer doesn't want to interview, kshnam kshnam but flop he made many interviews on that movie, watch them , and interviewer thinks they will be no views for flop movies, it is common sense

Watch all his interviews, all ramuism, all his posts then comment, because if you do then you will get to know he talks more about flop movies than hit movies but without knowing that, don't comment with the vague knowledge you have
