This is a series of videos documenting how I construct a Roundhouse Engineering 'George' live steam locomotive. I am most definitely a novice at this and only have access to basic tools and equipment. Please bare this in mind while watching the construction process. I hope you enjoy the video.
I have no association with the Roundhouse Engineering or Locoworks companies. However, I do highly recommend their products if you are interested in 16mm scale garden railways.

A big shout out to you Geoff for posting this video! My 23 year old ‘Katie’ started to develop serious running problems,lack of power, steam straight up the chimney to name but a few problems. After ordering a cylinder service kit and watching your video on valve timing the old girl lives to pull another train!……THANK YOU!

I'm glad to hear your Katie is back up and running. Starting with a blank sheet and tasked with sorting out the valve timing is one of those jobs that you can describe on paper or over a pint at the pub but you really need to SEE IT DONE to fully understand the process. That's why I made the video and it's proven to be very popular.

Why did you not also set the valve gear for running backwards as well? I do with my Asters as per the Aster instructions.

There is nothing in the instructions relating to setting valve gear specifically for going backwards. The instructions only relate to the moment the valve ports open in relation to fwd or rear dead center
