Continuing our countdown to RIAT 2023, this time with the the best of the heavy metal departures from the 2022 show.
As with the fighters, the criteria for this video were simple. No one makes it in unless the take off was spectacular or interesting in some way. Either a wing wave, a low departure or a special paint scheme, or just a special aircraft of some kind.
In order of appearance - with the reason for inclusion
00:00 USAF Boeing E-4B - An E-4 takeoff filmed from a grandstand - aviation gold
00:39 Boeing 727 - a rare bird these days
00:58 Boeing B-17 - no reason needed
01:24 Romanian Antonov An-30 Clank - A super rare bird again
01:49 JASDF Kawasaki C-2 - a super rare jet in western skies
02:17 Italian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules - gear retraction before leaving the runway 😱
02:54 Canadian Air Force Airbus CC-150 Polaris - love the brake dust on the wheel retraction
03:29 German Luftwaffe Airbus A400M - neat wing wave
03:50 Germany Navy Lockheed P-3C Orion - nice wing wave
04:11 Canadian Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules - nice gentle wing rock
04:36 German Luftwaffe Airbus A340 - another rare jet
05:10 Hungarian Air Force Airbus A319 - nice wing wave
05:32 USAF Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker - wild wing rock
06:09 Strategic Airlift Capability Boeing C-17 - just a cool jet! 😎
06:37 USAF Boeing KC-46 Pegasus - very gentle wing rock
07:09 Swedish Air Force Lockheed C-130 Hercules - nice final wing wave 👋
