Watch this enormous C-5M Super Galaxy delivering B-1 spares to RAF Fairford [4K]

Under the callsign REACH450, this C-5M Super Galaxy (86-0018) arrived into RAF Fairford from Dyess AFB at around 7am local time to drop off support kit for the upcoming B-1 Lancer TDY.
Thanks to adsbexchange.com I was able to watch the jet take off from Texas at 10pm UK time, then catch a few zzzzs before making an early start to get to Fairford in time for its arrival. After being airborne for the 9 hour crossing from Texas, the Galaxy was back off at 11:15 local time to Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport.
The arrival of this jet is especially significant as it marks the first aircraft movement of the first Bomber Task Force of 2023, which will include B-1s from the 7th Bomb Wing from Dyess AFB. Watch this space ;)

I remember talking to a KC-135 boom operator ..he said refueling these beasts were so weird ...they pushed so much air ahead of them it would raise the tail of the tanker up

Me too. I remember really vividly going to an airshow as a kid and looking at the wing root and being amazed that it's responsible for keeping the aircraft in the sky. Since then I was hooked! Thanks for the comment 👍

Great vid! I love the C-5's; I grew up about 5 miles from Lockheed in Marietta, though it just isn't the same without those screaming TF/39 turbofans.

@@UKAviationMovies Greetings from Tucson, Arizona USA. Before Tucson, I lived in Virginia Beach, 'bout a half mile off the flight path between Oceana and Norfolk Operations Base. During the height of the Iraqi war, the planes would land at Oceana as they came in off the Atlantic, then on their way to Norfolk, often over-flying my house. The voice of a C-5 is singular in the World of aviation and cannot be confused with any other plane.

It flew over my town at 6:59 this morning, unfortunately I was asleep at the time. I've been wanting to see a C-5 in person for ages now, hopefully next time I can do it.

I was in two minds mate. I very nearly came back to 09 but figured we’d get the same shot so I stayed at the 27 end. Nice to get something different. Look forward to seeing yours 👍
