I have a Simplicity S24. It’s been reliable for 11 years but I had a bag slip in the canister recently and a lot of debris was sucked inside. Do you know how to disassemble one?

I have this exact vacuum and no power. I took to a shop locally that I have always supported however while there I was told Riccar was going to be no longer doing canisters. So the price was $250 to fix because they said the main mother circuit bird went out and that part is $200 by itself and $50 for labor. I contacted riccar and was told that was not the truth and apologized for being lied to. So I cannot find a price range at all for this and don’t feel comfortable taking it back. Is this $200 a reasonable price and is it worth fixing myself? Thanks for your time and help!

Interesting that this example says Made in the US. Mine says Made in Korea and I believe they are made by Samsung. The cord reel, motor and circuit board look like Samsung parts at least. My power nozzle says it's Made in Taiwan. My major problem is there no longer replacement parts for the canisters. The circuit board on my rattles around a bit in the airflow. I'll also had the Kenmore Whispertone canister had it's motor in a housing as far back as the late 1980s. My Samsung Quiet Jet and a Bissell DIgipro, another Samsung product, also has identical motor housings. Pretty sure the Quiet Jet predates the Riccar. Hoover Dimension 1000s have the same sort of thermal switch and their motors are encased in a different way. Same for the Hoover Spectrum/Powermax/Windtunnel canisters.

A vacuum with a chinese motor and a cord reel that is melted. Thats very surprising. I even more surprising that it cost 1500$ and has a motor that is made in china.

You have never seen how my wife treats home appliances my friend. She could and has destroyed all manner of high end appliances in our home. She breaks drawers in our refrigerator on a routine basis. A nice new TOL Panasonic canister left upside down on the floor with the hose tied around it in a slip knot, wheel missing from the power nozzle. She asks me in complete seriousness why I retract the cord on the vacuum when I am just going to have to pull it back out again. She thinks a Tristar is a "very low quality machine" and will never deign to wrap the cord on it. The stove is treated like a camp fire. Daisy chains power strips. And she is an electrical engineer to boot.

Just subbed. Any chance you can do a tear down on a Riccar prima or wonder. I have one that’s a couple years old. When a bag gets a 1/4 full it’s stinks so bad. Even my riccar radiance is the same way. I’d like to tear it down and wash it like you do.

Man I would love to do a video like that. Unfortunately Riccar threatened me with legal actions years ago so I do not make content with that company.

@@PerformanceReviews last thing, is there a reason why Riccars and simplicitys stink so bad so quick. There is quite a few people on vacuumland that say the same thing. Out of all my vacuums they are the worse. I wonder if it’s something with the bags or if debris gets stuck somewhere

These aren't the worst canister in the world. These were once the highest end canister from Tacony. I think a SEBO E3/D4 are a better value and quality.

Tacony uprights are ok but their canisters are not all that good imo. I like the German canisters more... or the patriot machines due to simplicity.

Chinese motor in a $1500 machine and a cord that burns out? Shocking! I'll stick with Miele and Sebo

You'd need to seeing as Tacony dont sell domestic vacuums to the UK market, apart from their Truvox arm, and they are commercials. Our Truvox Valet battery upright (UK version of Riccar R10CV) has "made in China" on its battery pack, and charger, and likely most of the rest of it is Chinese made too, but "assembled in the USA". Its less than 6 months old, and already the handle creaks and squeeks, and its performance is pretty dire, so no, considering its a Tacony made machine, I'm not that impressed with it. Too much "Made in China", on machines that have a high price tag is a bit of a cheek to be honest.

MadAboutHoovers Well I could always import but I think I'll pass on that now. The only vacuum I'm interested in now is the Lupe which is due for release in 2019. If it's as good as they say and that's a big if it will be the cleaner to own 😁

Mieles are made in China too. The last C-3 I tested said "Hecho in China" on the label. Kludge.

The only Miele now made in Germany is the C-3. I hate the tools, and the bags are now $29.00 for a pack of 4.. The suction is great, but the motor is plastic.. I sold them on eBay..

If you're having trouble there was a version that had a rivet in the middle of it about where the HEPA filter was. On those models the rivet has to be drilled out hope that helps you.
