An update on this cereal because Kellogg's recently changed the recipe and ruined this beloved classic. Hopefully they'll go back to the old version at some point.

biggest cereal debacle ever. i was heartbroken when king vitamin left us, when trix changed their shapes, (I'm more than aware they're back to normal) then fruity cheerios changed to non artificial colors and flavors. But this, this is just a travesty I cant help but think they did this due to it not looking as unhealthy as the original. thats my guess

All I know is that Trix cereal were puff form then they've changed them into fruit shapes. They had changed them back to the original form but reverted back to the little fruit shapes.

I'm so freaking depressed about this man .. I want the OG BACK.. now that I'm pregnant all I can think about is this dang cereal.. It's always been in my top 3 favorite cereals of my entire life and now it's just gone😢 I can't find it anywhere 😭 We need them to bring it back ASAP

I was so disappointed when I bought this, and realized they changed the recipe :( I craving this cereal so much one day, I ended up buying Rice Krispies Treats and broke them up in some milk

I’m thrilled you did a video on the “new recipe “ RKT cereal 🥣 don’t know why they did what they did. My friend went to pick up some Rice Krispies treat cereal for me, I looked at that box of an abomination of my favorite cereal and I hit the roof! The tiny marshmallows...it just blew my mind! I haven't seen the original Rice Krispeies Treat cereal box in about 25 years. It really is a very pretty box. When I found out they were changing this cereal, I went out and bought 10 boxes. Still have a few left, but I doubt I'll keep them for 50 years like some of the ones you have in your collection.

I don't know.. either it was cheaper, they did testing and customers not familiar with it liked the new variety (a Coke 2 scenario) or there really is an evil goon running the place..

Kellogg’s UK did something similar in 1992. Ricicles had marshmallows added to them, but that didn’t last very long.

You know what’s crazy!! A couple months ago I went to a target that was across town since I happen to be in that area and the old formula it was the last box on the shelf. I thought it was back for good. I looked online to see and it still had the new formula on sites. So a week later I go back and it’s all new boxes. Bummer I got really lucky.

Seriously tempted to just make a batch of krispy treats ( the way "I" like them) chop them up and eat them like cereal .... hmmmm It's just so crazy it might work ! ; ]

Me too. Except there's no baking. Get u some marshmallow fluff (warm) and melted butter. Mix that. Add Rice Crispy. Press down on sprayed parchment lined cookie sheet and just let them set. Then chop it up. Boom. Fux Kellogs.

I was an original Rice Krispy treats cereal tester back in the 90s. Back then it wasn't a cereal but came in a pringles half size tube and was supposed to be a snack food, it wasn't till later in production they decided on it being a cereal, originally it was just Rice Krispy treats to go. Which is a shame as the ones in the can were fresh longer and had more of a crunch with gooey soft marshmallow. The cereal was still great though in its own right. The new cereal today is terrible, The quality is no longer.

I'm really surprised they don't just put the cereal in a clear plastic bag. All the art work and ink and designs on the box cost money, and most people just throw the box away anyways. Shows you how important all that stuff is to marketing the cereal especially to kids.

Could not agree more The destroyed that cereal ....I got a box was so disappointing.....I gave it to my neighbor.....and they said it sucked .... Just bring the original back and add a slight buttery taste with the marshmallows and you goat a winner And crunchy nut flakes two ......frosted flakes honey is not crunchy nut flakes ...

I bought the new Rice Krispies Treats Cereal. I wasn't paying attention to my pouring and I went to sit with my girlfriend and eat some. I nearly spat the new Krispies out when I had my first bite. These new ones are an abomination. I used to drive upwards of 30 minutes when I ran out to acquire more. I miss them dearly.

Now, Kellogg’s knows damn well that sweetening Rice Krispies and then throwing in marbits doesn’t equal Rice Krispies Treats. Homemade Rice Krispies treats don’t have the marshmallows on the side, do they? (Hey, Gabe, is that a Mr. Men book I see on your shelf?)

I remember first being aware of the homemade treats when I was in the third grade. Now, what if one of the students said that they brought Rice Krispies treats to school, only for them to pour some cereal onto each desk and then just throw on a handful of mini-marshmallows? #SomeAssemblyRequired Sorry for going on, but the original version of the cereal has always been one of my favorites, so I agree that is ridiculous how it looks now.

I refuse to enable this terrible decision and buy this godawful cereal. The OG Recipe was one of my #1 favorite cereals(Sorry if I've said that in multiple Cereal Time videos Gabe). This is ridiculous! For Kellogg's to call this "Rice Krispies Treats" is a flat out lie. There's nothing "treats" about it. Wow, I've never had this cereal but even I can see that's lame. I feel bad for any who liked the previous version and no it makes no sense other than cheaper. I'm afraid you are correct, sir. Write in campaign is the only way to combat it but ultimately probably won't be successful.

At least you guys have some damn fine chocolate. Sorry that you couldn't try the original recipe. It had the perfect sweetness, you could taste the marshmallow but it tasted even better then rice krispies treats all together. Hopefully you can order a box somewhere if Kelloggs brings back the original recipe.
