Lamb isn't that expensive in comparison to chicken. Especially when you can get it on sale because everyone thinks it's expensive.

This a budget for upper middle class or It's a budget for EU/Western/1st world countries, but this is definitely not a budget for 3rd world countries since the mass would fall under lower middle class. This is a budget that is highly correlated to where you live lmao.

1st recipe: Lamb Steak (Main Dish) Lamb steak (cheap cut) : $15.99/lb at the store, website estimates $16.79 per package Bread: $2-$3 Jared Anchovies: $5.29 Capers: $1.99 Dijon Mustard: $2.49 Parsley: $1.29 Total Costs: $29.85, 2 servings, $14.93 per serving 2nd recipe: Gnocchi (Appetizer) Potatoes: $2-$3 Ricotta: $3.49 Thyme: $2 Peas: $2.29 Lemon: $1 Parmesan Cheese: $5.99 Total Costs: $16.77 3rd recipe: British apple brown betty (Dessert) 4 Apples: $4 Vanilla Beans: $21.99 Dried Cranberries: $2.99 Lemon: $1 Demerara Sugar: $4.99 Granola: $3.99 Total Costs: $38.96 (add $3 for some vanilla ice cream tho how tf did he not add some to his brown betty) Total cost for essentially a nice dinner for two = $85.58 not including tax (Based on US prices). The gnocchi seems alright and the lamb steak can be swapped for any cheaper steak but damn do not use vanilla beans for apple brown betty

Love the tip to heat the apple crumble up again before putting in the oven. Lamb is not affordable where I live (Louisiana, USA) but I still got some good ideas from the video. Thanks!

Lamb is pretty cheap in the UK. Probably would be a budget conscious meal there.

Yeah lamb lion chops (only thing I can find at Giant supermarket) is $11.99/pound, which is cheaper than getting it at a restaurant but still only something I'd probably only buy for special occasions. There should be a fucking spaghetti aglio e olio recipe here, that's more my idea of budget friendly: one meal for under $5 and doesn't require you to buy a whole bottle of white wine. Gordon seems so disconnected from us peasants even though he apparently tries to aim these videos towards us

I can make a whole meal with that budget (and more balanced, with more vegetables and fruits). x) But still, Gordon's recipes are nice for a budget-special-dinner-with-friends-and-family.

Depends on the cut of any meat :D The chop, like pork chop, is usually a cheaper cut than any other part of the animal. Any part of the animal that's more "worked" than the rest of the body (shoulder, leg, etc) is gonna be cheaper since it'll have a tougher chew. Like Beef chuck. A whole chuck roast will cost around 10-12 bucks. Cheap but delicious way to get your beef fix with plenty of iron and protein!

Just FYI guys…the one supermarket I checked in the UK was Waitrose, which is fairly expensive, the leg of lamb steaks were £5.25 each…£20 per kg and a chicken was £5…£2.83 per kg making the lamb 7 TIMES more expensive than the chicken…this is NOT a cheap meal!!

Might depend on where you live. Lamb is very expensive in the USA, but I assume it's cheaper in Great Britain since they're more lamb eaters than we are

Usually people put the pan on right as they put the meat on which makes it grey and not cooked great so preheating the pan is pretty important lol

Mutton, Beef, Pork, Goat and or stuffed Chicken, Duck or Geese are all cheap alternatives. Casseroles, Stews, Soups are great options as well as slow cooked recipes like Porchetta or a deboned Mutton or Goat. The key to great tasting cheap cuts of meat is flavour and time. Either super slow or super fast but invest in a covered BBQ or a brick oven it's so with it and cooking a whole sheep will make family meals a truly memorable experience!

In my area lamb is really hard to find except for frozen stuff around Easter and when you can find it it's super expensive I could do this with a cheap pork roast.

I really do love watching these and hate at the same time, because it is hypnotic watching a Master at work.. Thank you Chef Ramsay :) did a 13h workday, have my karelian stew in the oven from which I will eat for ~4-6 days (sizeable amount) but I do work long days so I usually make food for multiple days. Other choice was Lasagne but the meats for the stew were on sale.. and takes a lot less time to prepare, as I always make everything from scratch, when I have the time.

We are making in a similar way to gnocchi Silesian potato dumplings which are called "kluski śląskie", when I was student we called them "erytrocytes" because of their shape :D

What the fuck is budget friendly about Lamb?? Who on a budget has Capers, Anchovies, Artisanal bread to make croutons, Ricotta, etc in their cabinet just sitting around?? It's pretty out of touch for the term "budget friendly". That being said, I'll probably try that crumble recipe.

Maybe the USA is a bit different but lamb out here is minimum 30 40 bucks for a cutlet the size of your palm. I think Gordon's video title should be changed to hey I'm rich and I can spend 150 dollars a meal 3 times a day lol. Think his kids have ever eaten 25 cent ramen? Doubtful.

i always brown my meat(lambneck chops) in a very hot dutch oven on both sides before i brown my onions in the same pan.ps: i remove the browned meat before i brown my onions.making lamb neck stew today

Grilled chicken, roasted potatoes and green beans/broccoli is my go too. You can just toss the potatoes and veggies on a sheet pan and bake so it’s low effort. And if you don’t have a grill just pan fry the chicken with some avocado oil. Three meals costs me less than 20 bucks

What Bruce Lee was for Kung Fu Gordon is "in" the kitchen , teaching us all his micro masterfull movements , take note the tips are worth a million let alone the flavour pairings. Is anyone else saying "in" alot while you are cooking? 😊

Man. I have never in my life eaten that kind of meat before. It's a rare sight to even find a whole cut of steak. Cause it's just so EXPENSIVE
