Deep Japan By the Last Samurai

The Last Samurai visits Taga Taisha shrine in Taga town, Shiga prefecture and introduces Rice Planting Festival on the first Sunday of June. Taga Taisha is one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan. As the staple food of Japanese is rice, at some shrines which have their own paddy field do this ceremony praying for the bountiful harvest.

The same scenary of Asia. We plant rice once a year. But I heard 3 times a year in southern Vietnam......

Amazing. I’m reminded of the game Sakuna. It references harvest gods and there’s even rice planting simulated in the game along with the yanato planting song.

this was a beautiful festival! we don't have anything like that in Italy. there used to be seasonal worker women in the rice paddies, but zero celebration en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondina
