I'm curious about the participants. Are they followers of the said beliefs or are they volunteers in the town?
@lastsamuraikyoto3 күн бұрын
It is the area. Normally a shrine covers its local area. People living there are regarded as the followers of the shrine. We call it Ujiko. At a festival Ujiko organize it all. So Devils of this festival are teenagers living near the shrine. It is the tradition. Thank you for watching Deep Japan.

Annamaria : "Don't think about life and death, don't think about good and evil, just concentrate!". Such a phrase is surprising for a Westener. We would say " You have to concentrate if you want to distinguish life from death and good from evil" . Is this the right perspective ? People think, life is fine, death is horrible, good is my happiness, evil is my grief. I would say, it is a short term perspective, because every creature is a fading image and only death contains the seal of permanence, on the other hand what we consider good today can turn out as evel over time. In the oriental way of thinking I see less arrogance and more obedience to the flow of events.Therefore the zen mystic invites us to concentrate all our energies in order to face the reality. Is it correct ?
@lastsamuraikyoto6 күн бұрын
Life and death, good and evil, we are surrounded by those standards. Buddha said that we should get out of those spells. Some people mortify the flesh. That may be good. But if you do it too much, it is the spell. You quit your job and become a monk. It is good. But trying to being monk is also the spell. Zen meditation may be the same. Then what is enlightenment? I don't know exacty. But if you can get out of all these spells, you will be truly free. You are in the next stage.

When I went to the peace museum in Okinawa, they dealt a lot about the cruel deed by the imperial army. This museum is dealing about Yamato. I think Yamato did not join the operation you talk about. In German there are lot of museums dealing their brutality which I respect. You should also insist to the winners of the war. I went to see Enola Gay, B29 bomber which dropped Atomic bomb. And I felt the same way as you feel. Thank you for watching Deep Japan channel.

Unfortunatrly the IJN, neither Yamato herself, nor Musashi was used in their intended roles until it was far FAR too late. They didn't even act as a "fleet in being" like Tirpitz, which would've at least tied up Allied forces in case they ever came out. The resources would've been better put into them as carriers, presuming there ere enough aircraft and pilots (which there WEREN'T when Shinano finally launched).
