Most of my Ukrainian female friends who fled to the EU are attached to men in the EU now. They were single before they moved. I don't think we can get hard and accurate quantitative statistics on how many actually dump their own men.

My wife is Ukrainian though she came here well before the war. She still has friends in Ukraine. 1 did leave her husband, but that relationship was trash from the getco. All her other friends back in Ukraine are still with their husbands with families. They have very stable relationships actually.

Not that I'm supporting this guy at all, but just for context, at least in America, which may have to do with the difference since the wars we've been a part of haven't primarily been fought on our own soil, a "war bride" usually designates a situation where a man going off to war would hastily marry before leaving and potentially not coming back, particularly when it was the expectation to do so before having sex. So, the wife he left behind would be the war bride that waits for him to return, and keeps the home fires burning, so to speak. Of course, a lot of those women would be very young, get lonely, their marriages were hasty and poor relationships to begin with, the situation they were left in could be dire, and whatever else, so they might cheat or start a new relationship while their husband was gone. Which is a thing that's always happened, and not particularly for the reasons he suggests. In fact, it's the origin of the expression "Dear John letter", which would be the break up letter the husband would receive letting him know. So, nothing new, and probably not at the rate he suggests either. I am also former military myself, and this happens when guys leave for months at a time during peace still, as well. I couldn't give you statistics on how often it happens, but it doesn't have anything to do with hypergamy. It's usually just very young and stupid people that weren't really mature enough to be married in the first place, that just get lonely and horny, and fuck around.

He’s using the stats that of the divorced couples in the US (50% of marriages) where the divorces are initiated by the women in 75-80% of the time - and trying to overlay it onto Ukraine. I have no idea if the therapist in the video is legit or not. The modern concept of ‘war bride’ is not the forced partnering with the victorious forces, but rather is one where the women freely choose. Think of German (or even English) women who moved to North America with men after WW2. A meaningful difference.
