Living in Detroit, the vibe is that everyone is happy for him. It does hurt at the same time. It’s the realization of how far off the franchise is to relevancy. Had a Super Bowl QB for 12 years. Couldn’t even get a playoff dub.

@@thedarkemissary Stafford led the game winning drive to win the Superbowl. He was far from mediocre. Stafford might of had a couple turnovers but he came through in the clutch and won the game. Stafford has more game winning drives in the playoffs then Aaron Rodgers does. Now that he finally has help he wins the Superbowl in the first year with a new team. Stafford is PURE CLASS! If ever there was a star player, an elite athlete, that was stuck languishing in a terrible situation, with NO HOPE to achieve greatness, because of a floundering, bumbling organization, it is Stafford! And he NEVER ONCE whined or complained, or cried for a trade! His patience, grace, humility and insistence to never complain has paid off in spades. He received all the good karma he cultivated. Ive never been happier to see a guy succeed. Now look around the league and take notice of all the spoiled, immature, whining babies complaining about their situations, and asking for, or projecting, for a trade! Stafford is in a class all his own!

I don't know (and may never know) what it's like to root for your home team in the Super Bowl, but this one felt a whole lot more personal rooting for him to win. Definitely bittersweet. Absolutely thrilled to see Stafford win one and show the doubters what we already knew about him: a HOF caliber QB trapped in the worst organization in sports. But obviously bitter, knowing our team once again wasted the talents of an all time great. Just hoping the new regime doing right by Stafford and letting him leave finally breaks the curse, and they can use those extra picks to finally build a contending roster.

No one deserved it more and I hope he gets more. I Hope he gets so many more. I want to see him become the best like I always knew he was. He's the comeback king! I'll never forget the game against the Browns where he got laid out in the second to last play as he made the play of the game to bring them back. They had to help him off the field and he demanded to go back in and throw the ball. He did and he won the game injured. The man is a soldier who keeps marching no matter what. It's a business for the people who don't play. For the players it's a life, with friends, family, and the bonds you've built along the way. This is true with QBs more than any player because of the time they spend with their offense, and in some cases special teams. Time, trust, and working together brings you closer. You can't just throw that away.

Where are these Lions fans being negative about Stafford? I'm sure they exist, but as a Detroiter I haven't met one. This subject is being bandied about by pundits way more than it actually exists as a thing.

Media people are just making ceap up about AD and Mcvay quoting this year. Mcvay made generic comments not about next year ..AD didn't say shite.

Goff cost us SB53, Goff blew our 2019 season, and then in 2020 vs 49ers and dolphins solidified his future with the team. We wasted 3 seasons with him... I still want him to do good n wear his jersey tho but look at Detroit now. He was arguably the worst qb this year

After week 10 Goff actually started looking pretty good. They basically fired their OC and Dan Campbell started calling plays. He was banged up and missed 2 games, but he went 3-1 in his final 4 starts, including wins over 2 playoff teams, the Cardinals and Packers. He ended the year building a a ton of chemistry with rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown. I don't know if he can, but I'm hopeful he can turn it around and regain his 2018 form.

In fairness to Goff, in the Super Bowl he got to face the goat QB and the goat coach. While this Rams team faced a young Burrow, with no offensive line, and a team that no one expected to go anywhere that far.

I like Goff but his leadership was questionable and his release was too slow, sorry he is a good quarterback but not a great one.

Can we stop pretending like all 32 teams are allowed to win meaningful games. Have we already forgotten about what those 3 playoff losses looked like to the national audience? Have we already forgotten that the league will take unprecedented steps like picking up flags that would have helped the Lions? Give me a friggin' break. I would love to know what kind of backroom deals have taken place, or not as the case may be... That's what we should take away from this. That even a generational talent like this can be shackled by a league preoccupied with creating narratives.

Until ownership of the Lions change the Lions will be nothing but a disappointment. The losing culture with this team has been lingering for years
