I gotta say as someone who content creates, Mr. Eisen is a master class on how to keep a fluid speaking segment rolling with no interaction. Zero time did I feel bored or any droning. In fact quite the opposite. Really have been enjoying delving into his content here. Great stuff sir.

Mahomes is not the only concern for the 49ers. In the last 2 games the Niners defense has given up 318 total rushing yards for a 5.6 avg per carry. This is not good, in fact it stinks. If DC Wilkes can't figure a way to help improve their defense against the run, the Niners could be in for a very long day.

If the 49ers stop the run, they win the game. If the chiefs get three turnovers they win the game. Mahomes will make plays, but so will the 49ers offense.

If you were a football coach, you would KNOW that 49er players were not sticking to their gap assignments. One player messing up his game assignment, screws the whole defense. A coach can’t make plays.

this makes me think back to what Jordan Palmer was talking about last week and how Mahomes had so many shoot out games in college that he had to come back in and just never give up in an attempt to score 40-45 points a game. It's quite remarkable.

These teams have almost switched places from four years ago. Smothering defense, good power run game, a dominant run blocking line, and a passing attack that lacks deep threats? That's kc now. Young gunslinger QB with weapons galore, a good opportunistic defense with a great pass rush but some exploitable weaknesses? That's SF now. They even had to come back twice in the run. Just like kc did.

Rich as a coach I can tell you what happens to a well coached defense late in a game. They have played every play in the game like it was the last play. This means they are very exhausted in the 4th. That is when Mr. Reid knows that the starters if still in the game are very attackable. He is smart and counting corners and Safeties total numbers of plays. Then he attacks the most tired guy. This is a very basic coaching strategy.

Stopping Mahomes completely is nearly impossible so SF should focus more on their own offense not to fall behind early and need to play catch up like the two previous games at home.

@@Aminah6623 it's not about Purdy, KC won't stop a run game of CMC/Deebo/potentially Mitchell for four quarters KC has a great secondary but they're eventually gonna have to move up after getting worked at the line, and just when that happens, Purdy will have Aiyuk/Kittle in a favorable 1 on 1 In other words, SF moving the ball doesn't concern me as much as the SF defensive line

I hate when they try to compare Mahommes stats to Montanas. They played in completely different eras. You can’t compare Montanas to Otto Grahams just the same, or even Brady’s first half of his career vs the latter. The game changed so much in that time.

You don't know football. You can compare any QB. Dan Fouts threw for over 4000 yards in 1979 1980 and 1981. Dan Marino threw for over 4000 yards in 1984 1985 1986 1988 1992 he had 5084 in 1984 Warren Moon with Houston had over 4000 yards passing in 1990 1991 1992 1994 and 1995 in 1983 Montana threw for 3910 yards I just 90 short of 4000. For some reason people like you think that teams have just starting to throw the football. Jerry Rice has 1549 receptions the most all time and he played from 1985 to 2004. Teams have always been passing. Mahomet is that talented....... Y

I heard a stat that Purdy is among 4 or so elite QBs that have came back from down 7 at half in every playoff game leading up to the super bowl. Mahomes wasnt on the list of the 4 other QBs to do this BECAUSE HE ERASED A 24-0 LEAD IN 7 MINUTES

I thought the same thing, it's a complete role reversal comparing playoff run and team makeup. 9ers have a terrible D (all of the sudden) but their O is 1 of best in the league and loaded. Chiefs have a good O, best D, and all around better team. That's not saying Purdy is Mahomes like some rabid Chiefs fans and idiots like Wright will try to twist it. Just an interesting observation of the story lines this SB vs their last.

The key for the Niners is to put up a lot of points in the first half. While the Chiefs defense has been playing very well overall, they have put the clamps on opponents in the second half, and this Chiefs offense is not built for putting up a lot of points.

KC just decided to lean of their defense. Baltimore never stopped KC. Kelce had 11 receptions on 11 targets. Reid is know for close games. As soon as a big play was needed, bam…..mvs with a 32 yard reception. It’s the Andy Reid way.

The Chiefs held the ball for 37:30 seconds in that game. Baltimore slowed the Chiefs down, but they couldn't get them off the field. Although they didn't score, the Chiefs kept getting yards, eating up clock and flipping the field. Baltimore started only one drive in the second half in good field position.

It's not like he hasn't been stopped plenty of times this year. The 49ers have the best pass defense in the NFL this year, better than this list of teams that stopped him: Green Bay, Detroit, Buffalo (regular season), Las Vegas, New York Jets and the Broncos (1x). He's not invulnerable. Kelce, despite the media bias, has underperformed this year. The WR corps is spotty. And the whole offense has not exactly been lighting it up this year...

Speaking as a 49ers fan, it really comes down to the SF d-line. The DEs have to be disciplined, can't get chip blocked on outside runs, and limit Pacheco long enough for Reid to get impatient, force the passing game, and make anyone who isn't Kelce or Rice beat you My biggest hope for this Sunday (close second is #13 playing lights out) is SF's D-Line having a great game

This is why it’s a team sport, and not QBball, the defense can answer the bell, which is the first such time we can say that with authority. Mahomes is going to play smart and empty the bus, you get a car, you get a car, you get a car, everybody is going to touch that ball, and I believe the 49er’s defense will be slowed down, by the many different ball handlers, they just need that O-line to remain stout.

The worst offense Mahomes has had. But the best defense he’s ever had. Which has contributed to his management of the game - for the 1st time in his career, he doesn’t have to win it - he believes they can. The point differential is so glaring because this defense plays man-to-man a TON because they’ve got the guys on the backend to cover, McDuffie & Sneed. When you play man-to-man, turnovers go down generally (something I learned this season)

Chiefs O-Line in Super Bowl 55 was Nick Allegretti G, Andrew Wylie T, Stefen Wisniewski G, Austin Reiter C, Mike Remmers T. Only Reiter and Wylie started week 1 and only Reiter was in the same position. 🙄🙄🙄

Rich, you are correct about the chiefs team this year, but not the defense which is the best he’s ever had. The offense has gotten better in the playoffs.

1. Purdy deserves the credit. He has held his own fairly well. He has experienced a few losses and learnt from mistakes. 2. Double team/put a LB on Kelce. He is slow, and hates contact. Make him work to get open. 3. SF Defensive line absolutely must blitz Mahomes and make him uncomfortable! QB spy him to stop him running

In all those comes from behind wins, the Chief's defense got the ball back for Mahomes, over and over again. This is the best defense the Chiefs have ever had and they always seem to bet better as the game wears on. As the shirt I am going to wear for today's game says, In Spags We Trust.

Mahomes' 2nd year playoff run, winning both games coming back from two huge deficits, sounds a lot like Purdy's current 2nd year run. Yet Mahomes is praised as the second coming, but Purdy is a game manager?? C'mon... in the same way that "experts" will predict that Mahomes is on pace to possibly equal Brady's career, one could argue that, stat wise, Purdy is "on pace" to possibly have similar success as Mahomes in the first 6 years of his career. But, until he does, I guess he's just a system qb... right Cam?

I love the build up to what everyone sees as the inevitable win by KC on Sunday. Almost like the game doesn't need to be played at all now. Mahomes is God. Bow down before him. What would be a great ending to this season is watching Patrick Mahomes play like the Patrick Mahomes who played against the Raiders on Christmas day. I'm sure they'd love to cover their great and wonderful QB god right after that.

4-1 is marginally better than 3-1, yes. They're functionally the same. Also we can play the what-if game with Mahomes too: if Dee Ford hadn't lined up offside, and if the deep pass to Hill had been dropped instead of tipped and picked, Mahomes could be playing in his 6th in a row.

What I think it applies better to the situation is to think about what happened to Tom Brady the first time he faced Eli Manning. Trying to figure out the whole game around the QB doesn’t determine what will happen.

if the 49ers get a large lead they tend to become unstoppable....the defense actually plays hard af when they are ahead and wilks knows how to call defense when they have a lead. When they DONT have a lead the defense plays sluggish and wilks is terrible.
