What he read from Richard Madeley's mind: "I can't wait for the ladies fashion segment after this. I saw a couple of them in the green room and they're jolly pretty. I love Judy but unfortunately I no longer find her attractive. How can I leave this marriage without looking like a cad? Because I'm not. Come on Richard, you know you'll never leave her. 5 minutes to go until the fashion segment. Note to self: check tyre pressure on Jag before going home. I think supporting my chin on my thumb, with index finger vertical is the best way to look interested and sexy at the same time. How long will it be before I look like Judy? I don't care what people say, Mike and the Mechanics did some cracking tunes. Actually, no, they are SHIT. No, no, actually, they are good. Literally 1 minute now until the ladies fashion segment. One of them's called Kate, I think. She's lovely. So young and full of hope. Tell you what, these Marks and Spencer boxers were well worth the extra money."

@mattlebl545610 жыл бұрын
dazzerstar You obviously don't know Derren. He's messed up multiple times on television. Not even live TV, he had opportunities to edit out any of his mistakes, he's not afraid of that. He reads body language, when Madeley is thinking about a specific hand, he will unconsciously give off cues that Derren can see. He can then figure out which hand has the coin, based on how his body moves. In this case, the body language was very equal, not even Madeley was sure which hand would've had the coin, if he'd been holding it in the first place. He's spent the majority of his life perfecting his skills, he wouldn't stoop so low as to pre-arrange any of this. :)
@mattlebl545610 жыл бұрын
dazzerstar Did you even read what I'd said? Please provide evidence.
@mattlebl545610 жыл бұрын
+dazzerstar Ah yes you have a point, that one is a bit unbelievable, but that is only a very small part of his collective resume. Many of the other things he does are backed up by psychological tricks that can be noticed. Since I'm typing on my cell phone right now giving you an example would be difficult, so I'll do that when I get home. ;)
@jamesart910 жыл бұрын
***** Most people noticed it. Some are so in their own world they not notice anything and several stepped right over it and could easilly have kicked it. (And maybe they did, but, since it wasn't picked up, the producers simply placed it back in to the chalk circle.) I believe most people did notice the wallet but, and this is the point, they also noticed the chalk circle. Is this evidence? A crime scene? Why is there a circle? Has to be a reason, so don't mess with it because someone is taking notice of this wallet. You see quite a few people pretending not to notice but swerving around it anyways. I personally believe that this is one of his more straightforward psychological studies of human nature.

I am unceasingly amazed at Richard Madeley's success. His interview technique is squirmingly awful. For some reason he always relates his guests stories to something tedious that has happened to him - like we give a fuck. His Ali G impersonation was THE most vomit inducing TV. His manner is chirpy but he shows a dilettantish interest in his guests. He is fluffy and pointless. And did he ever give Derren the £50 ? Despite losing the bet AND cheating. No surprise there - remember, he's a thief too.

out of curiosity, do you belive this one to be a trick or was it more of a gamble? I'm a mentalist myself and for the life of me everything i have ever came across tells me this could have been a gamble. But i'm not sure, just tossing a ball here.
@Gnargalarga10 жыл бұрын
Nage Tcp Its a combination of things, One thing to look for is which hand is more pale, a person would grip the coin slightly harder than the other hand is clenching, therefor more blood is going to that hand, you can also see the muscle tension in the hand and arm. The asking questions bit didn't work because he lied twice, the facial muscles would have moved the same way both times, the same for the voice. Hence why he said "You are very good at this" because to be good at it, you would have to close your hands both as if there was no coin in either, and be exceptional at lying.
@DasKatze50010 жыл бұрын
Gnargalarga Also, he didn't actually outright guess that the coin wasn't in either hand. It was suggested and evidentially was correct so the man ended the game, meaning Derren 'got it right'.

Neko blast You are forgetting that he rarely gets it wrong:/ He was looking for tells that hes lying!! EG..eyes go up and to the right while you are using the part of your creative brain[lying]...only quickly, and not all the time, but there are other signs, and you read "clusters" of tells!! When he got the same tells from both questions, the only answer was he was not holding the coin in either hand. Guy is a MASTER at this..Fuckin scary talent:) Same with the money, noone would think a kid that age would have 35 pounds in his pocket:). Still, to do it at all, blows my brain, i just cant really accept that its genuine, but it is,lol. He was not using the techniques of psychics here, they are far less accurate:/
@andrewbrown89569 жыл бұрын
TheZacdes Well, he is using some techniques that the "less genuine" (charlatan) psychics use consciously and the "more genuine" psychics (by that I mean those who BELIEVE they have powers) use unconsciously, like looking for tells. The eye thing doesn't always work, either. It's just that most people will do that, and Derren will read it as one of the many tells.
@TheZacdes9 жыл бұрын
