This reminds me of when I was a little kid. We were on a road trip in my mom’s car and we had Classic FM on and this started playing while we were on the M25 at the end of the runway at Heathrow Airport as a plane took off right next to us. I still remember the roar of the engines as it tore past us directly overhead and the way the car shook on its suspension, tie rods creaking like the front door of a haunted house.

@@mrt9749 the oldest music recorded in any form that we have is 16,000 years old, and we don’t have much in general up until about 5,000 years ago. Humans have been around for 100, 000 years give or take. There were surely beautiful patterns of sound created over time that didn’t reach the modern consciousness, notations that never reached paper let alone a recording booth that are lost forever. Your conclusion is short sighted.

Fighter jets, helicopters, I wonder if he ever dreamed of similar things before composing this piece. It is forever linked with aviation, but all he had were slow dirigibles to inspire him at the time. I wonder how he would react to his song being played inside our aluminum valkyries today.
