I have built probably a dozen or so floating live wells and I always use 1/2”x1/2” hardware cloth with a 1x top frame and pool noodles. Save drilling 8.7 thousand holes buddy! Love tour content. You truly are the real deal!

I made one similar buy two of the same bucket use the one without holes on the bottom to put water in when moving to another spot so you don’t have to dump out your bait.

Richard Gene That is a good idea, I Think I'm going to make one of those buckets but after watching you and thinking for a bit I will make some changes, I know you catch your own bait and stuff but I don't, I purchase my live bait so when I make my live bait bucket I'm not going to drill holes on the bottom or the first 4 inches from the bottom this way if I want to move the boat I'll just grab the bucket and put it inside the boat and off I go, the 4 inches of water will be enough to keep the bait live and well till I get to my new destination.

Hey man, great bucket ideas. These things work like a champ. Also I know it's a demonstrational video, but we use blue in salt water because the bait fish actually will live longer. The blue supposedly helps keep the bait fish calm longer so they don't stress out and die as fast.

A small laundry basket with small mesh might work as well. Thanks for sharing.

I've done similar with a laundry basket, a couple of noodles, and some zip ties.... it was more of a floating live well for river fishing, pretty sure that smaller minnows coulda swam out through the holes in the basket..... it was a temporary fix for an impromptu day of fishing. cost about $5 dollar tree. great vid as always!

Dang Mr. Gene, this looks like a great apparatus to help keep bait fish alive and man it is a lot less expensive too......great idea.....but I got to ....and I dont like to but I got to complain about this here video.....I knew from the very begining when I read the title that I wasnt going to make me one of these......now I might need to....but not gonna....but I thought....well I will just watch a minute or two and give it a thumbs up anyway.....well dab nab it.....I done watched the entire video, all 16 and a half minutes of it....I mean I couldnt turn it off.....it was just a fun, interesting, and informative video just like all your other videos.....and maybe the ol Tinker Belle needs one on board....I know its a lot of work, but please dont ever stop making these great videos....so many folks love em.....but please promise me you wont ever make one on why you hate grits or cornbread or such....cause I would have to watch the entire thing even tho I know I would never stop lovin grits or cornbread......but I got a feelin you love em both too....and telll Elmo to just soak that toenail for about an hour in hot water and apple cider vinegar....then get a small pair of vice grips and clamp em on his pinkie finger......it wont help his ingrown toenail but it will make him forget about it for a few minutes.....have a great day sir and remember....if you think you know what time it is today you are probably wrong....spring forward and fall back....or is it spring...........who knows?

Hey, you can use a laundry basket and add a dollar store nylon laundy bag to line it and get the same thing done without the need to drill any holes. His concept is great, the technique can be improved. Not hating just building upon!

Why didnt you use the other noodle and just cut it the length to complete the circle? Its gonna sit too high in the water.

Don’t know if it has already been mention but have you thought about using a square mesh collapsible laundry hamper?

Instead of drilling you could probably burn the holes with an old soldering iron, just make sure youre outside, you don't want to breathe the fumes in.

Use clothes basket with small holes to avoid drilling

I bet if you put a 1-ounce way entitled to the bottom of the rope and then tried dropping the rope down vertically down the pool noodle I wonder if that'll work

I would think it would be easier to attach the noodles with zip ties. We add them to our floating fish baskets for better buoyancy.
