Do you want to get better at jumping your bike? Of course you do! It's simple, it's just not easy. Jumping a bike takes time. It also takes reps, and it helps to get those reps in as controlled an environment as possible. That's why we rely on the full range of MTB Hoppers for The Ride Series MTB Skills Clinics.
Follow along as I run through some jump progression using the Hopper Lite, the Coach Bundle, and the Hopper PRO. These ramps are amazing tools for us to help riders find confidence and progress in a manner that will have them busting big on the trail in no time!
Check out all the behind the scenes action on Instagram! I go deep with the Stories and provide even more insight on the daily!

Would you like to attend a Ride Series MTB Skills Clinic with Rob and I? Well, check out www.therideseriesmtb.com/ for the latest schedule of TRS Clinics and be sure to sign up for our newsletter.
Being good at jumping takes some time and teaching how to be good at jumping is pretty darn difficult. We searched high and low to find something that would allow us to create a safe environment that would allow riders to hit different take offs and slowly increase distance and angle. We stumbled upon the MTB Hopper and the rest is history! These products have been an absolute game changer for The Ride Series! The design, the portability, and the adjustability are a few of the reasons these ramps have allowed us to take riders of all ages and skill levels to new heights!

I attended this jump series in Phoenix and highly recommend it. This one clinic alone made a HUGE impact on my jumping ability. The instruction and hands-on approach with instant critiques at the time of the jump and video playbacks makes this jump series the best out there!

Best jumping vid I’ve seen. Thanks. Also awesome display of difference between the MTB Hoppers. I’m looking at getting one so I can practice my jumps (there are not a lot of places around where I can practice other than a couple skate parks) and this solidified my decision to get the coach.

I bought the hopper pro back in May after seeing one of your earlier jump videos. I also got some landwave ramps to try and recreate your teaching tools. Both products are very well built and work great together. Now I need a van to make hauling everything around easier. The hopper pro is a really neat design. The MTB Hopper products aren’t cheap, but they are worth the price. I just need some guidance from Rich. Keep up the great work.

indeed, a very educative video, and I want to buy a hopper. My question is : what do you do with the hands on the take off. I did some training with a coach and he shoved me that the hands need to be extended on the take off. As a result you won't go OTB. I also noticed that in some of your jumps in the video the hands were straight on the lip of the ramp.

Hey Terry! I'd say you need to try to extend the lift phase a bit longer. If I could see a slo mo video I'd bet you are transitioning to the rotation and landing phase a bit too soon. Keep your heels down and keep thinking about creating lift until the rear wheel is off the lip. Let me know if that helps.

Hey Rich, I really liked the tutorial, but had a question. I noticed that at one point, you are sitting on your seat while in the air. I have not done that in the past, do you recommend doing that.
@richdrewtherideseries
@richdrewtherideseries 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend it per se, but I think it’s good if you’re comfortable enough to be able to do it. I’m trying to stress staying centered over the bike and in these clinic scenarios, I generally sit down into the seat as I’m landing.

Hi Rich. So, I've been here for 6 months and I just can't get over the steep lipped stuff. I'm fine with other jumps and drops, but the steep stuff still scares the bejesus out of me. For example...Air Raid vs Shock and Awe. Shock and Awe is no problem, super fun and none of the jumps are a threat. Air Raid is a different story. I don't like that line, at all, because that feeling of getting kicked over the bars makes me fear for my fused spine. I was out for 3 years and seem to have lost all confidence in jumping. The drop and the first two jumps are ok, but after that I just roll it. How do you tackle the steep lips? I've been working on the last jump at hammer down (after watching your vid on it) and I can land on the top, but it hardly feels natural or smooth. More like up, up, up and then just...straight down. Is there a smaller version of this I could practice on around here to get used to the energy of the steep lip? Do your jump clinics cover this? I'd love to attend one. I appreciate what you're doing with these videos and thank you in advance for your help.
@richdrewtherideseries
@richdrewtherideseries 3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! The steep lips are difficult, no matter how long you've been riding. I think the timing piece of opening up your hips is the most important piece. It's somewhat difficult to explain (and we're planning to do specific video for it) but it makes a big difference. The energy builds very quickly with these steep lips and you end up fighting it with your body if you aren't very dynamic coming off the lip. It takes some time and the clinics certainly do help. Would love to see you at one!

Hey Mike! No dilemma my man, use both as effectively as possible. Lee is the man, I just think there’s a bit too much emphasis on hinging from him. It’s essential to hinge, both in life and on the bike. I also feel there is no “one right way” for everyone. Some people can’t squat well for mobility reasons and some may not hinge well. You do you fella!

A bit of a question/critique. What exactly is "open up" referring to specifically? You keep using this phrase over and over but don't actually "say" what you mean for the rider to do. Open up doesn't really mean much to me. I wish that you would just say exactly what you mean.
