Volgin is one of the most memorable parts of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. From his electrokinesis to the unrelenting cruelty he displays throughout the story. Then his return to the series again in Phantom Pain was a decision to reinforce his role in Snake Eater even more.

I know everyone says Volgin knew Venom wasn't who he was because of the eyes. I say we know Volgin has a much more effective way of finding out how much of a handful someone is.

I like how Volgin is just plain evil and all around a monster. That adds contrast to many of the other antagonists and also makes very satisfying for his 2 downfalls.

Honestly I have thought that primary inspiration for Volgin was Bison from STREET FIGHTER In both cases they are "supervillain" dictator type antagonist, that has massive military power, but also skilled in supernatural psychic power. Especially considering that his father 01:07 looks nearly identical to Bison

Kind of weird Metal Gear never did much with the whole superpowers angle. Between Volgin's Electricity manipulation, the Sorrow's Telepathy and Psycho Mantis's telekinesis you'd figure we'd get more soldiers with insane powers rather than just fancy tech.

@enenra6417 I will say I never got that impression maybe it's confirmed in a codec but from my perspective he's gay and tortured Eva for his sick pleasure since hurting her would motivate sokolov. Secondly I more got the impression that Eva was actually messing around with boss since when you drag her through the forest their are voice lines that are a Lil sus.

@blindjustice5695 nah Eva wasn't messing around with the boss it seems that the boss saw her more as a kindred spirit due to their similar backgrounds. And after the torture scene Volgin tells Eva to meet him in his room even after he just 'killed' Sokolov. Also Sokolov says that Tatyana was Volgin's lover

Assuming MGS3 Volgin, Armstrong, since electricity (likely) powers his nanomachine. MGSV Volgin, Not certain. Edit: MGS3 volgin wins, he can sap the energy out of the nanomachines.
