Richard James Edwards was a Welch musician who was the lead singer, lyricist, and rhythm guitarist of the alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers.
On February 1, 1995, at a tender age of 27, Richey Edwards mysteriously vanishes and was later declared presumed dead on November 23, 2008.

Man, I hate it when people vanish without a trace, I feel for his family's pain and I bet their trying real hard to find him. So, Richey, if you're out there listening or watching, not only does the UK and the rest of the world want you back, but the United States and the rest of North America want you back, too. Me and the rest of the state of South Carolina want you back.

In the last five years I've lost my mum and dad and have cried enough tears over my smashing parents, But at least I have closure, To not know is horrible and never ending, Bless them .

20 years and counting such a long time without and any real concrete news about Richard must be horrible to live fact his father Graham never saw his son before he died makes it even more sad I can't see his sister ever giving up on finding him or will it be like Lucan we will never know ? I think the latter

Well he didn't because his car didn't turn up at Aust until the 14th Feb so no not possible.

There's evidence that he actually lived in his car for a couple of days before he disappeared. What makes it ambiguous to me is that if he was gonna kill himself, why didn't he do it straight away? Why drive all that way then live in his car for 2 days by the seven bridge beforehand? Also Richey was fascinated by suicide notes. If he was gonna kill himself I'm fairly certain he would have written one. It's got to be one of the strangest scenario's ever. He was taking out large sums of money each day for a month before he disappeared, he shaved his head just before he disappeared, he parked his car next to a well known suicide location, which just doesn't seem like his kind of style. For all we know he could have been kidnapped by a crazed fan, like in the film Misery. It does't make sense that he would just go away without letting anyone know his intentions, whether if that was suicide or that he just wanted to leave. Richey loved his family and loved his band mates, he wouldn't of wanted to keep them guessing.

If he is and he has had contact with them, they would never reveal it. Let him be if he is. It was his choice to disappear. Sometimes that's what you have to do for a little peace and sanity.

If you are going to kill you're self I don't understand why you would make several cash withdrawals over a number of days , OK twenty quid but he withdrew an required amount , possibly for a flight , he could have hitched a lift back to anywhere from there , hope if he is alive he found what he was after

She's a lovely lady and the Edwards clearly were a very respectable family. It's so incredibly hard for those left behind and that's something Richie should have thought about before he did whatever he did. His sister has had to live with 30 years of this never-ending uncertainty, that's longer than Richie dealt with his demons. And his parents died not knowing what happened to their beautiful son. You can't blame him as he was mentally in a dark place but a suicide note at least lets those left behind grieve and eventually move on. That hasn't been possible, for the sake of a few words on a bit of paper.

@Reptilian Shapeshifter That is pure balderdash. His friends and family are hurt without him. I believe the most logical conclusion is that Mr. Edwards passed away approximately between February 7-14 of 1995. Likely the former. He wanted to die and not traumatise his loved ones. He thought it out and made it to where his remains were never able to be recovered in the fast-moving tide. His tattoo said "I'll surf this beach". He's one with the English Channel. He is the sea.

I truly hate saying this, but I think she knows where he is. She has contradicted herself, both of which imply that he killed himself. First, she said the amount that he withdrew from his account, added up to receipts they found around his apartment. Then she said the money was for a desk he ordered. Now, people who are suicidal usually give away their belongings, not order a desk you have no intention of using. He planned the whole thing for at least a month. The timing of him being declared dead and Journal for Plague Lovers release. I just believe they all know where he is, but don’t want him found. They want his memory and legacy to continue, but that’s it! The latest “big clue’ from Rachel was the misreading of the toll ticket that stated he entered Wales 12 hrs after what was previously recorded. None of that makes a difference, but it does keep his name alive...just saying.

Thought I read there's no trace of him ordering a desk? Suppose if she knows where he is then she would need control of his bank to send him money. Although didn't he have treatment for mental health problems?

The family has control of his assets. That’s why they had him declared dead. And yes, he was treated for mental illness, as are millions. Mental illness does not equate suicidal tendencies. His illness was body dysmorphia, anxiety and self harm, plus he was an alcoholic. He just couldn’t deal with the fame. Now, if I were watching someone I love slowly die in front of me, I would do anything to save them. I don’t blame her or the band if this is the case.
