Testament to just how difficult this song is,and just how amazing Myles is because he unlike this guy sings it beautifully and almost effortlessly.

Hold on, I really need to listen to this again......... OK. I don't know the song, and on first listening I wasn't sure that Rick was putting this over. What distracts me about his voice is the distinct range of tones he uses - at least 4! But you know what, I think this was one of the best performances of the series. Hold on, I'm listening again....... Really? Paloma sends Heather through and leaves Rick behind? Technically, Rick did not put a tonsil wrong! Emotionally he was in the zone. He nailed, absolutely nailed everything he tried, nailed it solidly to the floor with big six inch nails made of his bare soul! His breathing, muscle control, precision, power and presence were all perfect - (OK maybe one pitchy note). And yet he goes home. Sigh.

Whilst it's great hearing the mighty Alter Bridge on the biggest channel in the Uk, this dude destroyed one of my favourite tracks. The guy has balls taking this on but he didn't pull it off, leave it to Myles.

Okay everyone, if we're comparing someone to Myles Kennedy...Well, there is no comparison so just stop. If you look at this guy's blind audition he's actually got a decent rock singing voice but...he just doesn't have the range to do a song like this. I wouldn't go so far as to use the word "butchered" but, still, this was bad. Always happy to see AB getting some mainstream recognition but this was a poor choice of song for him.

alterbridge is my favorite band. miles Kennedy wouldn't be impressed. this is one of my favorite songs.

As a huge alter bridge and Myles Kennedy fan, this is not the best cover I've ever heard of this song. However, it's a really hard song to pull off. Myles Kennedy is a fantastic and skilled singer. A lot of his songs are hard to sing. I feel like Rick sounded better when he tried to be less like Myles and more like himself. Still... 10/10 effort 10/10 taste in music 10/10 cheekbones

One does not simply sing alter bridge song

This just popped into my feed today. I'm not going to compare him to Myles Kennedy because that's just not fair. What bothered me was how they changed the song. I know, I know. Time limits. But there is no reason to make a song basically unrecognizable for the sake of time and to show off your talents, which he has. It's really the bridge and the ending that irks me the most. Just totally rubs me the wrong way. Let's sing two lines of the bridge Actual bridge "I can't go on Let you lose it all It's more than I can take Who'll ease your pain? Ease your pain" and totally change the end so it loses it's meaning. Ending lyrics "Snow is on the ground Winters come You long to hear my voice But I'm long gone" I think he says, but you are gone. I can't tell. But that line changes the WHOLE song. I'm serious. Alter Bridge fans, listen again and see. Do you think or feel the same way as when AB does it? Again, NOT comparing his voice to Myles, just lyrically. Doesn't it feel wrong? Personally, I see a better way to cut this, but I'm not on the show and my opinion means nothing. But it might have helped to tell the story correctly. Who knows.

Rick was alright. Not much to say about this performance. He was doing that back-and-forth transition between really low and falsetto ala-Jermain Jackman but all that did was make him look/sound like a poor man's version of him.

That is one butchered version of Watch Over You. If you don't have the range for the song, don't sing it. But props for giving AB recognition, they deserve every mainstream exposure they can get. Best band on the planet today!

I mostly hate this for the sake of the song and for Alter Bridge. It is so rare that a great modern rock song gets put on these shows and then one pops up and just falls flat like this. Just reinforces the attitude that rock is dead and certainly doesn't encourage anyone to go check out Alter Bridge or other bands like them...

I'm not a fan of this version and tbh I don't think he had the vocal chops for this... but he's brave to tackle Myles Kennedy.
