My wife and I did the exact same thing! We are mid 50’s, we eat 2 meals a day, which includes protein and good carbs (veggies), cut out sugar, stopped snacking after dinner. It’s really that simple folks. No need for medication. 80% diet, 20% exercise.

She was beautiful as a bigger woman and she’s beautiful now. Just be happy with your motivations. Don’t expect instant happiness after losing weight. People do treat you differently after a major weight loss. That’s sometimes surprising to deal with. Everyone says how great you look. But she looked great before. If she feels better that’s lovely and I’m glad to see she did it without drugs. Love yourself no matter your size!

I love Ricki Lake, in general, and that she’s sharing what it actually takes to lose fat and reverse the insulin resistance that caused it and all other chronic disease (type 2, Alzheimer’s, IBD, heart disease, anxiety, depression, etc) without taking drugs that never address the root cause, is inspiring and honest.

If her & her hubby didn’t use Ozempic (or similar weight loss drug) why did she use the words “financial commitment?” Eating keto & practicing intermittent fasting is not more costly than eating a normal diet. It’s just like what I heard Kelly Clarkson say about her new diet, “you need to be rich” to be on it. I wish that these people would just come clean about taking weight loss drugs. I wouldn’t feel any differently about them for taking Ozempic. I feel it’s just another perk of being wealthy. I could care less if they starved themselves, had gastric bypass, had their mouth wired shut, worked out 16 hours a day or took Ozempic. What does bother me is the fact they’re lying about it. Just sayin.
@truthseeker5941
@truthseeker5941 2 ай бұрын
@Susan I don't think she is lying. She said she hired a private chef and a fitness trainer if you listen! She said she was mad the doctor wanted to put them on the drugs.
@susanw5594
@susanw5594 2 ай бұрын
@@truthseeker5941 maybe I am wrong. I don’t see why you would need to hire a personal chef to eat Keto. It may be just a big coincidence that she decided to lose the weight at the same time so many celebrities are on Ozempic. As I said before, I don’t care how anyone loses weight, just be honest about how you did it if asked.
@truthseeker5941
@truthseeker5941 2 ай бұрын
@@susanw5594 Why are you assuming she is lying? Everybody doesn't lie. Ricki Lake has always been honest and transparent about her struggles, depression, weight gain, surgeries, husband's suicide, parenting her sons, etc. She has never been a liar, so why would she start now after being in show business all her life and keeping it real? Rich people hire chefs, because they can, just like they hire personal trainers, when they can just buy a home gym. These hired professionals keep them accountable and on track. Basically, it is a form of paying for motivation to keep going. LOL Also, when you are used to preparing foods with carbs you need help to learn to cook foods you want to eat in a different way to help you stay on course on your low carb diet.

How is this in any way inspirational or relatable to those of us who don't have a personal chef or a personal trainer?
@truthseeker5941
@truthseeker5941 2 ай бұрын
@@roberthanisko9749 You do have a chef. You cook for yourself, or have a mate that cooks for your, or family that cooks for you. You have KZfaq with all the personal trainers and fitness trainers that you can watch and workout with. At the end of the day, she was the one that did the hard work. She got up and started moving her body and stuck to her keto diet for months. Is that not motivational and inspirational? Ricki is an overcomer and she is an inspirational strong woman. Period.

@LauraB.335 2 ай бұрын
Who cares! You can gain all the weight back even when you have gastric bypass and she obviously gained at least some of it back. It just tells people you can still do keto and intermittent fasting after you have a bypass. It also shows that bypass is not the answer; lowering carb intake and fasting is.

I think it’s great she did it with will power and lifestyle changes! However people who lose weight with Ozempic or weight loss surgery should not be any less happy with their success in taking off their weight. It’s about being healthy and living your best life!
@LauraB.335
@LauraB.335 2 ай бұрын
She didn’t do it with will power. She changed what she eats and fasts, so that she’s no longer hungry and it lowers the insulin that caused it in the first place. Not to mention, insulin resistance causes or makes worse every chronic disease there is, so she’s helping her body that way, too. Drugs and surgery never address the root cause. She, herself, had gastric bypass, and it eventually failed. Not to mention the fact that no one ever said people shouldn’t be happy. She just made the point that she was looking for a lifestyle change with keto and fasting, which is what it actually takes to reverse what caused obesity in the first place.
