I made exactly the same mistake in my first two plays of not taking the 3 and 4 player Unrest cards out of its deck! Great playthrough. It also made me re-read the rules for Break Through. I hadn't been considering the Options element of Break Through. Doh....

Three of the most complex card based board games I have learnt, you have helped me. Imperium , Star Trek Frontiers and Mage Knight. Your style of playing whilst explaining is perfect for my brain. THANK YOU !

The insert does work with very thin sleeves (pro fit or whatever they are called). At least mine does. Very clear and good video.

I think the best thing about these games (im so pumped for Horizons) is that knowledge of actual history and historical civilisations attrubutes is a real advantage. This makes fantasy games like dominion and ascension seem a bit dull by comparison. If you want to learn about ancient civilisations without lots of book reading and/or improve your strategic thinking this games asymmetry is perfect for both. Im so impressed by the designers. The only snag is that my mrs has beaten me all but one time. You may find unexpectedly keen strategically minded friends and family 😮😅😂😊. All part of the fun!!!!

Great play through so far …the two designers have been all over their game in watching play throughs etc which is highly commendable as I personally found the rule book a little difficult to comprehend but once the game is shown etc it all drops into place …I think it’s a rule book that is actually very good in terms of info very precise and succinct …the Bot in this game series is awesome …but the rules could have benefited from some examples of play or a turn play through in the rule book …especially some the the more complicated and rule breaking society sets in the Legends edition which are quite subtle and different. Would be good to see a play through of the Utopians or Arthurian’s ? As an aside - I ha e printed off the AI bot charts from a updated version printed on BGG …but how did you get you cards you made to have rounded corners - they look very professional ? Cheers

In my first solo game I didn't know there was errata. I played vs. Persians so they'd draw an unrest, I'd use the chart to see what the option was, there was no option for unrest and so I went to "other" which would inevitably put more unrest into their deck so they'd draw more unrest on the next turn. In only a few turns the unrest deck was empty with nothing I could do against it and I had lost. What a stupid game I thought. Then I found the errata. Unrest actually gets returned to the unrest deck and does nothing!! Forgetting to put that in the rules is a really awful mistake to make. The second game with the correct rules was much more fun, but I worry about how many people will buy the game without knowing about the errata.

I did find the game exceedingly difficult to learn as there were questions not answered in the rules. Still haven’t made through the 3rd solstice as I keep having to go to BGG for answers. I feel I’m close to having everything cleared up, but what a slog to learn. Normally I would have given up with a game giving me this much trouble but it’s such a great design that I know it’ll be worth it to get through.

At 32:06 does the new card in slot 2 not get an unrest card ?

I added all the common cards together, and then used all the rules. This provides more variability..as you place your six of each, then the common deck of remaining cards is shuffled, and chopped in half.

One box of eight provides 28 separate matches. The second box of eight takes this to 120 possible matchups. Just sayin'.

nice to see the game but stopped watching when it was the solo variant that was played

I'm pretty experienced as a board gamer and at 10:15 I just gave up. Such a mess of incomprehensible decks, it all looks like a half-produced prototype. I looked it up and it seems to sell for about $38 apiece. Not feeling like getting anywhere near this nightmare. on top of that, obviously poorly produced cards. But Turczi should really find himself a proper editor and illustrator. His work does not impress me at all.
