Szafnauer was/is a really good team principal. He gave them fourth in 2022 despite the civil war between Fernando Alonso and le tueur de coéquipier (look it up), and in 2023, exactly what was he doing wrong? Sure, he was a horrid driver manager, but good elsewhere. I mean, he was team principal of Aston Martin back when they were Force India with a severely limited "budget" and still almost won two races!

As much as Fernando departure from Alpine was kinda fault from Otmar, it's a also a fault from the upper management in that year since, iirc, they offered Fernando a one year contract in F1 + the following year in the WEC with Team Alpine whereas Fernando wanted a multi-year contract in F1 and that's exactly what Aston Martin gave him. But the Piastri thing was a masterpiece from both Piastri and his manager, one fella named Mark Webber which you may know him. Also, Alonso and Webber are friends so they may have all planned to leave Alpine in the dust between the three lmao.

I may be American, and I may have joined the sport in 2020, but I know every single champion as far back as 1974, when Emerson Fittipaldi won the title for McLaren. I know the winner of every race as far back as the last 4 races of 2015, and then other patches of several years as well

I think one of the main issues until recently (when f1 became big money) was a lack of commitment to a name, and even investment at all, constantly potentially pulling out of engines, teams, etc. and flubbing 2014 as well.

Alpine fan here. I will give my 2 cents, because i disagree with alot of what was said in this video, but i agree with the main point of it. Yes, our downfall was mainly a management problem. I also dont understand how one of the biggest car companies in the world is not able to produce a reliable and fast engine. I hope that in 2026 we will be atleast equal with the others. However, i dont lose the feeling that Otmar was responsible for alot of it. How is it, that since he came, the team became less competitive every year and we have lost two capable drivers since (which i blame also Rossi for) ? We were strong in 22, after Budkowski left. We lost two drivers (which i blame also Rossi for), became worse. And now look in the shit we‘re in. And i blame him for that too. Apparently they were working on the car since 22, so Otmar had to oversee most of the development. They too many risks with the new design, changed alot of parts. Has it helped ? It helped us being a mockery of an F1 team now. And it really hurts us Alpine fans. However: Its not Ocons and Gaslys fault. They are not best friends. But they are being professional about it - much l more than with Ocon and Alonso - and not terrorising each other on track. Im not sure where you got that from, because when they crashed each other, it was usually unlucky (could have crashed with anyone in Melbourne) or a simple racing incident like last week in Suzuka. And even if they had not crashed - we would still have ended up on P6 in the constructors ranking. Sure, firing Otmar mid season is a risky move. But im glad they did it. Bruno Famin is someone who is giving us Alpine fans some hope. He gives us the feeling that he knows how to turn things around. He is realistic and honest (i mean, after all Szafnauer and Rossi claimed we would be fighting with Merc and Ferrari last year, which was never true). He has changed and created alot of positions. I know there were alot of changes. But they all had to happen. So i do believe we will get back into the points and i do believe we will reach P6 again. Bur i hope for more next year.

Fernando didn't left alpine, he was bullied out by papa snufuafufauweger saying he was old, they didn't want to renew alonso contract, etc etc... so he (Alonso) reached out to AM. Now they are happy because the entire team is french and they are the worst team of 2024, a true happy ending for everyone!
