When Ricky Ponting and Kevin Pietersen shared a commentary box during the Big Bash League, the former Australia skipper took the chance to ask a few pointed questions

Nothing wrong with being arrogant imo, when you put as your life into something as KP has its difficult to be humble especially when these 'reporters' are pestering him just because they want to print out something that will sell
@jayrobb99 жыл бұрын
People often get 'confidence' confused with 'arrogance'. It's a fine line to walk.

I thought your comment was about Ponting because Ponting looked far more arrogant in this one lmao! And this is coming from an Aussie

He is very honest and confident in his own abilities, easy to mistake as arrogance. He has the batting record to back it up though.

Anyone who hits Warney for 6 straight back over his head at Lords when England were collapsing has the right to be confident to the point of almost arrogant!! Nice one KP!

Love Ponting as a pundit . Brilliant communicator , affable , knowledgeable and gives a great interview . Hated him as a player ( being a non-Aussie) but absolutely respect him more hearing his commentary these days ( and he was a great player no doubt ) . Petersen’s a good sport taking on some of these questions ( mind you he’s got to promote his controversial book) but he’s much more open to a player he respects rather than your average journo during this period .

Ponting is so sharp and to the point, no wonder he was such a killer captain.
@RayD8or19 жыл бұрын
I loved it. Couple of old opponents talking cricket and life. All that was missing was a couple of cold ones. He seemed like an affable sort of bloke to me. As in the comments below, some say arrogant, others confident. I'm sure it was the same in the dressing room. Interesting he said Vaughan was his best Captain. Vaughan also said KP was tricky to manage but so was Flintoff, and that they could both turn a game for you. I think Cook and management couldn't manage him and the easy way out was to axe him. ECB is still the old boys club and having an alternative opinion isn't tolerated. KP was one of the best and I will miss seeing him swagger out to the crease, and I'm an Aussie!
@jaguar32488 жыл бұрын
+RayD8or1 Vaughn is on record as saying the people that should have been sacked were the ones who could not handle KP and that includes the England Captain at the time, Strauss. Strauss feared KP, as did Jimmy Anderson and cry baby Broad. They wanted to be the stars.

I couldn't stand KP during the last Ashes series and, as a Stars fan, was not sure whether or not to get behind him when I heard he'd signed, however, the way he has handled himself out here has been nothing but professional and classy and seeing all the information that has come out about the serious problems in the English team has made me convert to being a KP fan. It is now unquestionable that he is the victim in this whole situation and deserves to be in the English side as he is probably the best English cricketer since Botham. Really hope to see him represent England again as long as it doesn't contribute to the Poms winning back the Ashes. Great interview here from both Ponting and Pietersen. Channel 9 take note, the likes of Ponting and others in the commentary box on 10 are really showing up your biggest under-performers. Can we swap KP for Mark Nicholas please?

Quite often the best or most dangerous players in any sport are also the hardest to handle. But a strong captain will find a way to deal with it, and get the results out of that player. I think Vaughan was the only captain of KP that understood this and was willing to absorb all the bad stuff that came with KP.
