Buckle up and join me on an epic ride through Northern California's most jaw-dropping scenery. We're hitting the road on the world-famous Avenue of the Giants, cruising right through those massive Giant Redwoods on US Highway 101.
I kick things off in Garberville and then head north for 32 miles of pure natural beauty. Trust me, this Redwood Forest is something else - you gotta see it to believe it!
Along the way, we're making a pit stop at the Burlington Visitor Center. I'll take you on a little hike through the forest trails, and we'll check out the museum and storyboards. It's like stepping into another world, I'm telling you!
But wait, there's more! We're not done yet. I am pushing on to Eureka, California, where we'll hit up the Samoa peninsula and the super cool Samoa dune recreation area.
This trip is the real deal, folks - we're talking Giant Redwood Forest to the Pacific Ocean and California's Northern Coastline all in one go. It's a once-in-a-lifetime journey,
So sit back, relax, and let's hit the road together. From towering trees to crashing waves, we've got it all. Ready to join me on this adventure? Let's go!

This trip was so special to me since I was raised in the Ave of the Giants. My Dad was a timber faller when it was 1st Growth Redwood. I worked at the Pacific Lumber Co. when it was thriving. Both Lumber and Fishing aren't the same so a lot of us left for better jobs. The small community with the Eel River running thru it has turned to weed farms so we don't go back. The visitors center at Burlington was mostly built by my cousin who was a historian but passed a few years ago. My parents are buried in Fortuna. Now at 84 yrs of age I won't go back but I can always pull up your video and think of home and happy times. Will never forget the smell of the redwoods.

Hey Russ, happy Sunday! Wow, you are up early at the beginning of this one, the sun hasn't made it over the ridge yet. Old growth redwood groves are magical places, the Avenue of The Giants is a really neat drive...and a super nice bike ride if you ever get the chance. As impressive as the trees in Humboldt State Park are, I think things get even better the further north you go. The Travel Log RV is the real gem of the visitor center. Whenever people talk about "the first RV", I always point out the story of how Charles Kellogg drove it across country several times between 1917-1921 as a way to promote interest in saving the redwoods. In Samoa, I've always wanted to eat at the Cookhouse, but never got the chance. Oh well, maybe someday. Looking forward to riding up the coast with you in the next episodes...until then, happy trails!

Your cover photo on youtube, (the one with yellow text),..looked like a view master national park slide minus the 3d, beautiful. Remember those? One of my favorite toys growing up. That's where I learned about this place btw. Beautiful. Yup, the redwood forest sucks up sound but if you shout it sounds like you're in a cavern of some kind. Stayed at the visitor center campground once by showing up early and they found me a cancellation space. But with so many people, it may not be for everyone. Bathroom use and getting around isn't always easy. The campfire show was really good though. Another good one. Wish I was there but just can't afford the fuel for our rv out west anymore. So we'll travel here virtually for now. Cheers.!

When I was a little girl my aunt had a Viewmaster that took reels with pics of different places. We had two reels of pics of the redwoods including the one the road goes thru. My aunt never liked to go much of anywhere so I suspect those reels were her way of seeing the USA without having to leave home. Don't know if that little device is still available but for a kid with disabled parents it sure gave me a chance to see the country. Thank you for the memories and so much more as I have never been able to travel the way I'd like to.

Nice video. It too brings back memories of the summer of 1975 when my parents and I were working our way home to Phoenix from Portland. The redwood forest looks much the same. LOL! However, I couldn't remember the visitor center. Then you showed us the photos. The visitor center didn't open until 1980, which explains why I don't recall seeing it in 1975. We also passed through Eureka. It was a much smaller town back then, but we didn't spend much time there as we were on our way to the Redwood Forest..

You inspired us to take another trip up there in a couple weeks to check out all we didn't get to last time.
