Sweeet! Maybe we see Richard back on the BMW GS or GSA again. Do all roads lead back? I’ll guess we’ll find out.

Maybe next year. My MTS V4S is an excellent bike and has only covered 7k miles.

@@RichDunnHello Richard. I could have missed an update, but did you not post a video some time ago saying you sold the MTS V4S?

@@renatojlopes I owned a red MTS V4S, then Tiger Rally Explorer, and now a white MTS V4S. I've owned three Multis, three Tigers, and four GS''s. They're all great bikes, we're spoilt for choice! If buying today I think I'd buy an R1300GS though - just so well developed and easy to live with.

I could buy one now, but my Multi has only covered 6k and I usually sell between 15-20k ass residual values go into freefall after 20k. So probably in a year or so, when any recalls are over with and any minor bugs/tweaks have been worked out. A friend also rode it on the same day, along with a friends MTS V4S Rally, and preferred the Ducati, which only goes to show that there's a bike for everyone, try before you buy, and use reviews like mine as affirmations of your own opinions posts test rides. Thanks for posting!

If only we could all skip forward to 5-10 years from now to a time when manufacturers have minimised the size of the radar units. The bulky size of the existing ones ruin the look of the R1300GS for me. BMW still uses the same front end design even when the option isn't fitted but at least they use an alternative design for the rear in that instance.

The aesthetics of ACC and BSD is a problem for all manufacturers to solve. The BSD block of plastic on the back of my Tiger 1200 was (is) truly horrific! However, I believe they still work if you place a sticker over them (don't ask me how/why!), as I've seen gel-pad like graphic sticks with GS logo, etc designed for the front ones. It's like the single starbursts matrix headlight unit though it just takes time for us to become familiar with it to accept it over time. EV motorcycle manufacturers don't have to make them look like ICE motorcycles, but its what we are used to seeing, so they tend to choose the least path of visual assault to our senses. Get a test ride - after riding one, you'll probably not care less whether it looks like an ice-cream van or not, its just very impressive (second one I've ridden now).

@@RichDunn All fair comment. I'm content to wait for the next generation of the GS before getting an adventure bike so aren't in any rush. So that'll be another blissful 5 years at least of avoiding the "ice-cream van" look, haha!

@@sambagogo777 Ha! The last time the GS had a clean sheet upgrade like this was some 18 years ago, back in 2006 - so you may get your wish!

It’s a somewhat nice looking bike, especially the green with gold color combination. I still lean towards the overall look of the 1200 & 1250gs bikes. I am also sure BMW will work out some of the bugs that are commented about on other sites. It is overpriced for me. If I am going to spend that kind of money, I will just wait for all the new Electric Adventure touring bikes that will start to dominate the market in the next 5 years or so (if the government continues on its course to rid the country of combustion engines.)
@RichDunn

@@skiph1622 many will prefer the more rugged enduro looks of the older models. Its problems (early engine, regulator, battery) problems are long solved. Only the pannier recall blights at present. It costs a lot, but so does a well-equipped Ducati Multistrada V4S, which doesn't have some of the GS features such as an electric screen and suspension that automatically lowers and raises itself. It also has a satisfying solidity and well-finished R&D about it, that gives it a planted feeling and an air of quality that spec sheets don't portray. I want an EV Adv-Tourer too! I own a Rivian and Tesla, and fully appreciate the pros. But until bikes scan package a 300 mile plus real-world speeds range, they just won't sell IMHO. I'll be first in the queue when they do though!

Thanks for the feedback! Variety is the spice of life and choice is good. IMPO no Adv bike, bar maybe the '24 Africa Twin, could be described as good-looking. And none represents great VFM, bar maybe the '24 Tiger 900 GT Pro. Large Adv-Tourers have become so big and heavy, that many (particularly the short of stature) will welcome the smaller, lighter, and more agile '24 GS. LMK what parts you think look cheap on the bike. Having owned 3 Tigers, 3 Multistrada's, and 4 GS's, it maybe looks the best built out of all of them to me?
