We are going to RIDE THE LIGHTNING! We are back out on the cane thrush job and a DANGEROUS thunderstorm pops up OUT OF NOWHERE to bring me and Munchie some TORRENTIAL rain and INTENSE LIGHTNING! Unfortunately a hydraulic hose pops right before the storm hits causing us some MAJOR complications!

Grab you a set of stucchi threaded couplers with the male threads on the machine side to eliminate that male/male pipe fitting that keeps breaking.

Yeah I never had the drive to get out and work for myself, especially with the money I was making and the benefits! So I stuck with it and suffered through injuries and tough jobs! Thinking the family owned company I worked for would help me out when I couldn’t do my job anymore, but no after my double knee replacement surgery! They had nothing to say except if you can’t do your job anymore than I would have to find another job skill! 37 years and they abandoned me after all the blood, sweat and tears throughout the years! 😢 I had no choice but retire and I’ve been depressed every since! I still enjoy your content brother and I’ll quit venting because I’m a better person without them anyway! Thanks for sharing my friend, Kirk from Louisiana sending prayers and good vibes! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏼👍🏼 I wasn’t putting you down, just trying to help out maybe for the next time something happens!

Hey Davon, enjoy your vids. I’m sure you get tons of advice, but carrying the smaller spare parts, set of good tools, & a vice could save you a few hours of time. Find out where you can get some cheaper spare parts & stockpile to have ready for repairs. Keep up the vids, lotta fun.

Yeah Chris does a lot by himself plus he was doing jobs with his Uncle John! That’s how he built up his company, by working the weekends on his small jobs! Right now Letsdig18 is probably burning piles of trees he’s taken down, if it’s raining in North Carolina! Chris has a Takeuchi skid steer and a Yanmar mini, he’s had good luck with both! That’s what you should think about if you ever want to replace the KOBOTA mini! I’ve seen Andrew Camarata buy used Yanmar mini’s and fixed them up and used them for years! Andrew buys all used equipment though and fixes them! The Yanmar excavator Chris bought is an amazing machine! Just saying friend, you can ask Dirt Perfect Mike about KOBOTA’s and he won’t have anything good to say about them because of his KOBOTA skid steer, he got rid of it and bought a Takeuchi skid steer! lol 😂

So you say you're not much of a mechanic well everybody can learn. First lesson is always wrap your Teflon tape clockwise. I know some people will say It doesn't matter but it does. Because from time to time it'll unravel when you're trying to put on a fitting depending on how sharp the threads are. It will turns into spaghetti strings.
@jimhester1205

An old plumber once told me, when using teflon tape, make sure you wrap the fitting in the same direction it turns to tighten, and never more that two wraps of tape on the fitting.

Hey, You should use a Hydraulics Coupler Break-Away fitting It comes off and prevents fluid loss and replacing hoses. most of the time. they are not too expensive. but they work I would make a cover for the Y connect with a metal cover. I use old Fire hose to cover my Hydraulic lines check local fire station you can get them from them. Zip ties hold them on. Kubota I'm not a fan they are over priced and the parts are always on B.O. or very expensive. or both. in a pinch use a palmetto leaf point slip under the O rind and lift it out. Florida Trick. Good luck

Sorry about your bad day but first that pipe fitting is a standard fitting that you can buy anywhere that sells fittings and there is a good chance that you can buy that hydraulic quick connector at the same place way cheaper than what you paid, also when you put the tape on the threads you put it on backwards which makes it unwind when you screw it together, when you use the tape wind it on in the direction that the fitting will turn and with the roll turning the way in unrolls in the direction that is keeping tension on the tape, just trying to help as my father in law was a boilerman and probably used thousands of rolls of that stuff, good luck

agree with the guy about purchasing a thread sealant for hydraulic fittings. probably should checked all your lines and see if there about at there breaking point too. should keep extra fittings in your truck for just in case. long run, it will save you time and money having the parts right there. o yes, and use combo wrenches for tightening. enjoyed watching..

1st honestly, the minute lightning was in the area ya should have just said fuck it and shut down for the day and go home, sucks to do that but I have seen lightning do some bad shit and lightning can strike 10-20 miles away from the parent storm. seen trees get turned into shrapnel that embeds into concrete just from a lightning strike. also making the rest of the tree come down uncontrolled which can squash a cab like a bug. lightning direct strike on a car/truck/equipment will pretty much total the car/equipment as everything electronic in it will be dead. Lightning is just one of the things not to piss with. easy to recover from a lost day work. lot harder to recover replacing equipment and well no recover from getting a case of the deads. Other thing that amazes me about SC is I would figure about every woods job you would run into euro hornets, bald face hornets, and yellow jackets but it actually seems rare to run into. around here you would get that machine going and piss off a german yellow jacket nest.

Agree, only Takeuchi with an extra cooler and ASV have this figured out. Will be interested to see where ASV goes now that Yanmar owns them. It should be good. Yanmar is very experienced as a company and their stuff is really solid. Anyway, I would guess wet material mulches better because rain adds weight and mass and reduces leaves flying away from the cutter.

Build a shield to go around those things so nothing hits them and breaks them again. Weld a block to the stick on either side with a threaded hole in each, bend a piece of heavy sheet metal to fit around it with holes for mounting it, paint it orange and there you go. I wouldn't care how a shield around it looked if it kept that from happening and having to spend the money and time to do it while not being paid. You keep saying "I'm not a mechanic" but you gonna learn to be while having those tractors.

Break downs are a guarantee when equipment is involved. Parts have gotten ridiculous for sure. I can't believe your Kubota dealer is selling you a regular pipe nipple for that high pressure line. That's some of the reason it's breaking occasionally. Take your adapter fitting and your quick coupler to a hydraulic shop and they should be able to get you one fitting to take place of the two you have now. If not, they're at least going to give you an actual hydraulic fitting to replace the nipple. Keep up the good work and videos.
@idigit4967

It broke because a branch caught it and snapped it, not the machines fault. But yes I was thinking about the same thing as in abandoning that insert piece and just threading a straight piece into the diverter valve and down to a hydraulic head.

One, don't shit talk the Good Lord, he seems to have a better sense of humor than you. Two, get some freaking wrenches so you can do field fixes, regardless of whether you are a mechanic or not, if you fix your own stuff, you need tools to do so and a Crescent isn't good enough. I'm betting that the difference you're seeing with rain making it mulch better, may be due to the wood expanding and causing you to get more surface area mulched in one pass.
