One of my tutors in university worked on Ride to Hell. He showed us some of the early cutscenes and stuff where the models weren't textured properly. This was years ago, before Ride to Hell came out, maybe 2010? I thought what he'd shown us looked like a cool game so I asked him what it was, he said it had been cancelled but was going to be an open world biker game set in 60s California and (weirdly) that it was being made by Rockstar. He also worked on that Cartoon Network racing game, he said Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls was the hardest thing he's ever had to model because CN were very very picky about line thickness and stuff so it had to be sent back and tweaked a bunch of times.

Uhm, THQ Nordic is NOT Deep Silver. It's a little complicated, but I believe Deep Silver's parent company (Koch Media) was acquired by THQ Nordic, but still operates as a separate entity within the Embracer Group (Nordic's parent company that owns a zillion other game companies). So they are still two separate entities. Technically at least. It's a little confusing because Nordic has changed names a bunch of times and Embracer used to be called THQ Nordic AB (a holding company) which is not the same as THQ Nordic GmbH (a game publisher). When we talk about THQ Nordic, 99.,99% of the time we're talking about THQ Nordic GmbH.

I can safely say they had maybe one fifth of their manpower on ride to hell. Pretty much everyone else was working on an upcoming product for car dealerships which involved virtual test drives in VR and real-time photo realistic custom renders of colour and accessory options. I think the biggest tragedy of this game is it could've been good. An open world biker game set during the late 60's is an awesome idea. This game could've been special if it got the love and care it needed from an experienced developer. Imo a lot of the early trailers look really interesting. It's a crying shame we ended up with... this.

The 1% really catches my eye on the cover and makes me think.. “yep, they gave their own game a crappy score” Strangely I don’t think I’ve bothered to watch the full game or see the final boss because most gamers play it, have a few laughs, then realize it has lost its charm, and just give up. (like deadly premonition until recently where I’ve seen the whole game)

My dad bought a box full of obscure PS1 and PS2 games at a yard sale for me and they were two of the games in it. I actually enjoyed them for what they were. SRS was actually a fun racing game and it had really good graphics. Big Mutha Truckers also looked pretty decent for its time and even though the gameplay itself was kinda lacking and repetitive, it was quirky and trashy enough to be entertaining.

As someone who is a huge fan of the series I've done a lot of digging myself into what happened and have followed it's production closely ever since it's announcement, but as far as I know there is very little actually documenting what happened with the game, even as someone who admits that that game is a huge guilty pleasure. Okay now that Deep Silver - THQ Nordic part is confusing, so let's clear that up. Deep Silver (or its parent company, Koch Media...) was acquired by THQ Nordic AB, becoming a subgroup along with THQ Nordic GmbH (the one that published Darksiders III for example) and Coffee Stain, effectively staying as is. The two THQ Nordics were so fucking confusing that the Swedish parent company, THQ Nordic AB, which was known as Nordic Games until 2016 or so, maybe 2017?, this September, they announced a rename to Embracer Group AB, and the THQ Nordic publisher is now one of the subsidiaries of Embracer.

He tried to sue them over the name Mirror's Edge and EA proceeded to bring in an army of lawyers who basically dismantled him in court and caused him to lose any ability to sue people over it, having the trademark and copyright stripped off of him by the court with regards video games.
