@@ridesofjapan some "stupid electric pumps" are lighter than 2 CO2 cartridges + adapter. And you don't need a pump either. Concerning running out of battery: they have USB-C, so if you have a phone with USB-C that can be used as power bank (iPhone 15 for example) you can always top it up worst case with a small USB-C to USB-C dongle

It's starting to feel like we've put some miles behind us together, 'old friend.' I've been around since before the last ERC video, and long enough to believe that Peace is more than a just a parting word to you. I'm mostly tubeless now, and my tires are 32s. What world is this? I used the Daysaver in my roll from the drop. I've had to actually USE it, searching the gravel for the bits on the strange quiet roads of the Driftless region, aka 'the Coulees' -- near the native homeland of Trek. It was distressing enough for me that I carry my Topeak X-tool+ -- and nothing else -- if I know I'm likely to adjust something on a shorter ride 'around the local park'- bike paths around chain of lakes -- which nearly all of them are for me. Peace! I mean it!

Another +1 for the CYCPLUS mini pump. It's lighter than 2 CO2 cartridges and an inflator. I fly several times a year and despise the hassle of going through x-ray machines. One tubolito punctured, another unusable due to valve extension issues (possibly punctured as well). 2 pairs power links, partially rusted 🤬🤬 So apart from making me get the daysaver kit (love it, but I need to put it in the actual saddlebag and not keep it as a fidget toy on my desk) I now need to order more TPU tubes and power locks 😂

You might like the Wera Bicycle Kit 15. It’s a small kit with 3 tyre levers, a 2.5, 3, 4, 5 and 6mm hex, and a Torx T25. The tyre levers stack together to form a handle that apparently is good for 20Nm. It’s also got other features like a valve ejector and a spoke tensioner I believe. It’s 46g.
@otterspacejam
@otterspacejam 8 ай бұрын
I've had this tool for a year and loved it until the plastic hole where the bit attaches cammed out when trying to remove a 6mm through axle that I torque to 10Nm with anti seize. After caming out the bit would rotate in the hole which rendered the tool useless which cannot happen to a metal hex wrench. I no longer trust this tool for anything over say 5nm so I replaced it. Thankfully I was able to borrow a conventional 6mm hex which removed the axle easily. The wera also does not have the ability to easily add other bits like a t20 and t15.
@Boodoo4You
@Boodoo4You 8 ай бұрын

a truly next level minimalist setup. i need to check out your new multi tool. i have currently been using a Fix Manufacturing Wheelie Wrench Pro. It's also incredibly minimalist but offers a ton of versatility. Its biggest flaw is that the integrated tire level is not nylon and also shares the common flaw with your setup in those very rare occasions when you might need some pliers to pull a thorn or wire out of a tire. That's less problematic on tubeless though.

Great kit and excellent production values - your vids are better looking all the time. That bag you have slung under the seat looks great so form fitting maybe it gives an aero gain. I saw research recently where a bike with a randonneur bag on the front of the handlebars was faster than without the bag. Aero gains can come from weird places (like putting a Camelback bag on your chest instead of back - a legal body “fairing” that some pros have actually started to employ!)

My experience with the Leznye pumps is that the thread wears out quickly and I got 2 times when the valve top got stuck in the pump hose top... only way to get it off of the wheel was to break off the valve tip, both wasting the pump and the tube... Had this twice, so that was 80€ wasted, I've switched to TopPeak now, also small & light, only used once, so too early to rate. Also using a lezyne trackpump (the one for tubeless...) also for that onthe the thread is already wearing out quickly...

I’m still a CO2 user, thought the whole set, inflator, canister and rubber sleeve is just 85g. I do have a mini pump for the longer rides, I’m gonna use that tube hack of yours, and will add an additional TPU tube. I’m at 290g total, without the mini pump/second TPU tube. But just to be safe, I throw in a tire lever w/a few wraps of duct tape, small cable ties, wipes, and $20 cash, for an additional penalty of 25g.

It would be too risky on a really long ride to rely on that pump. Battery life isn't enough to get you through worst case scenario.

Also more tubeless sealant friendly than CO2. But the lack of redundancy on a long ride is concerning.

Love my cycplus. Added benefit is I can fly with it. US airlines don't allow co2.

26g Mini Pump for less than 20€? Take a look at the Barbieri Nana made in Italy. It’s reliable but takes a while to pump up a tire. That’s fine for me because I very rarely have flats.
