My first time in Hong Kong! What a city! In this Hong Kong travel vlog we will explore the best things to do and see. Hong kong is often called the New York of Asia and now I totally understand why.
Hong Kong is also called "Vertical City", because it has the highest number of skyscrapers in the world.
We will check out the most popular things to do in Hong Kong: Tsim Sha Tsui, Avenue of stars, Bruce Lee statue, Crossing to Hong Kong island, Central Hong Kong, Hong Kong park, The Peak tram, the peak viewpoint, Food in Hong Kong, Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin temple, nightlife in Hong Kong and finally the Symphony of lights.
I will also answer the question: Is Hong Kong part of China?
Let me know down below your thoughts about Hong Kong. Have you been here? Are you planning to visit?
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻 🇭🇰
Best,
Gabi

For the political status of Hong Kong, I strongly recommend you Google search "Hong Kong Basic Law" which is the mini constitution of Hong Kong and sub document under China constitution as well. Article 1 clearly stated that China definitely have permanent sovereignty of Hong Kong, while the "50 years" time span mentioned in Article 5 only applies to Hong Kong capitalist system. Also it doesn't mean Hong Kong MUST change to run socialist system after 2047. There's also a Macao version Basic Law which covers similar content. Please note.

Born and raised in HK. After living abroad (Europe, North America, Asia, Mainland China …) for almost 30 years, finally moved back about 2 years ago. I feel so privileged to be able to call this beautiful city “home” again. There’s no perfect country in the world, you just have to find a place where it suits your personal lifestyle. And to me, HK is one of the most vibrant, diversified, efficient, compact and organised cities in the world. Most importantly it is a very safe place and it allows me to walk around everywhere at anytime of the day with ease. ❤ Yes, please do come back. You need to explore some of the outlying islands and our countryside. We have plenty of well-maintained world class hiking trails which are definitely worthwhile visiting. Wishing you well and travel safe … Thank you so much for visiting our beautiful city! ❤

Things I recommend tourists do in HK: 1) the West Kowloon Cultural District, one of the biggest arts districts in the world, has great views of the skyline, parks, cafes, restaurants, world-class museums, etc. 2) one of HK's beautiful beaches such as Repulse Bay, Shek O, Clear Water Bay, Lido Beach, or, to feel like you're in Thailand, Long Ke Wan Beach which is in one of HK's amazing country parks 3) mall culture is a big deal in HK, so check out one of the beautiful malls such as K11 (near the Bruce Lee statue), Elements (next to the tallest building in HK), Pacific Place (next to the beautiful HK Park), etc. 4) Hong Kong Park: beatuiful park with beautiful ponds, birds, exotic plants, etc. 5) Disneyland and/or Ocean Park 6) Get out of the city and hike through one of the country parks (there are both easy and difficult trails) and if you don't like hiking then check out something like the Bowen Road Fitness Trail (it's flat, lush, with great view of the city) or Black's Link (which passes by some of the most expensive houses in HK), 5) check out one of the outlying islands to feel like you're in a different world: Lamma Island, Lantau island, or if you don't mind a little hike, Sharp Island (among many, many others), 7) the cable cars to the Big Buddha statue on Lantau Island (touristy but fun), 8) if you have time, a trip to both Macau AND Shenzhen, two great cities, very different vibes, a stone's throw from HK. I’m super happy you decided to swing by Hong Kong…my first trip was in 2017, that two weeks stay there was super epic…so much so I’ve been back quite a few times since then. Next time you go back I would recommend you stay at least 10-14 days (if budget allows) there’s so much to see and do but the best part is when you done with all the tourist stuff and end up emerging yourself into the daily life as if you’re an expat living in HK.

The video is well-made, and there is a clear answer to the question you raised. The legal principle that Hong Kong is a part of China is indisputable. In terms of daily life, we share the same facial features, speak the same language, eat the same food, and uphold the same customs. The ties between Hong Kong and the Mainland are becoming increasingly close, with gradual integration in various aspects including finance, law, and administration. Currently, Hong Kong residents do not need any visa to travel to the Mainland, it is simply a matter of going from one city to another. In 2023 alone, there were 55 million Hong Kong people who traveled to the Mainland. Certainly, those who do not recognize themselves as Chinese or consider themselves British can hold a BNO passport and return to where they belong, without being impeded. Therefore, I do not believe there will be any significant changes in Hong Kong after 2047.

You got super lucky with the weather! It has been humid and rainy for the past two months. 1) HK actually has three parts: HK Island, Kowloon and New Territories. New Territories is where Lantau is based, but it also contains the outlying islands, eg. Cheung Chau, Lamma, etc. and the northern part of Hong Kong like Sai Kung, Yuen Long, Tai Po, etc. 2) HK has three official languages - English, Cantonese and Mandarin. The MTR announcements for example are announced in all three, when you're phoning a service hotline, you will press 1, 2 or 3 depending on which language you want to speak to the service staff in, etc. (People might argue it is a dialect and not a language but that is besides the point, the point is all three are the official languages. Kind of like how in Catalonia, things are in Catalan as well as Spanish) 3) The Peak is the highest part of HK Island yes, but the highest peak in the whole of HK is called Tai Mo Shan 4) At one point the govt. gave a subsidy for EVs so that might be why there are so many teslas. Not sure if it's still in place 5) Cars in HK are super luxury because it is mostly rich people who have them. The public transport is so good that the middle class and lower class have no need for a car (unless they live in a village or outskirts of HK). 90% of all transport is public transport in HK, which might be the highest in the world. Glad you enjoyed HK!

@@ckjl7704 I suggest you actually walk around Central, especially on the walk ways and see the people begging (especially those with mobility issues) and also see the number of old people bent over on the streets pushing trollies and picking up cardboard to make ends meet. Also go to Causeway Bay and look under the fly overs at night to see all the people sleeping rough. Hong Kong is not a cheap place to live, and social security does to provide enough to get by.
@simonclark2857
@simonclark2857 7 күн бұрын
@@savoysumbe3976 he said no homeless - once you know where to look its more obvious. Its actually worse than you think because HK is so expensive. There are also many issues hidden, because so many people live in tiny one room flats - often sharing them with relatives.
