Ridge Racer Revolution - Obtaining Devil/Angel cars

In this video, I'll do the Time-Trails while getting the well-known Devil (both 13th Racing, and 13th Racing Kid) and Angel (White Angel) cars.
Honestly the Time Trials aren't really very hard, but they certainly require few attempts. It boils down to focusing on driving while paying attention on blocking AIs driving line.
I also noticed that doing Time Trials on Extra course is easier due strange AI quirk: the Rival car is much faster in Extra course but not as fast as Devil/Angel. And the thing is that Rival car is fast enough to stay in 2nd place and if the Rival car is near your car, the Devil/Angel car won't attempt to overtake and instead sticks behind the Rival car.
This was recorded on Retroarch using Beetle HW core. I also enabled PGPX which enable perspective correction and thus makes polygons look more stable, although it can cause artifacts in some places. This is European version using my own personal copy.

I remember the first and only time I beat the White Angel as a small kid around 7 or 8 years old. I used the Devil 13th Car and blocked like crazy until I crossed to finish line with both the Yellow Solvolou and the White Angel just a car distance behind me. I had always thought that if you were able to ram the White Angel when it was parked in the first two laps you were able to delay its launch for a few seconds and it kinda did. I had attempted this race like a hundred times and cried a lot, really broke my little heart, until one day I was able to do it and basked in the euphoria. This video brings back the nostalgia of quite possibly one the best gaming moments I've experienced and achieved.

Oh man this brings back memories. How hard it was to beat white angel. I remember one time before that first short right-bending tunnel white angel was close behind me in full speed but he jumped and got airborne before the tunnel, it was so confusing. And... I kid you not... he landed ahead of me on the other side of the tunnel just as I came around the corner! I was so angry about this. I gave it my very best and fought him bravely and he just cheated his way past me. Still probably my favourite Playstation game ever. :)

Please Could you tell me the time stamp where the Angel flew over you? Was it a glitch? Please show me. Something similar happened to me in 1995, but The Devil flew over me while DRIFTING the corner!! I WAS MAD AS HELL. I didn't know how to use the Memory Card at time so I had to finish the whole game every single day if I wanted to drive the devil and the angel (I was 7 yrs old)

I beat him and had all the best cars from devils child or something like that to that angel white car! The first black car was just simple. Stop him in his track it takes for ever for him to speed up. Then the second was block him again and again! Whit angel was the hardest but I got it by just blocking it over and over again cus I knew all the ways the car physics would work in the game hence increasing your chances of blocking the white angel

That moment when white angel overtakes you on the last bend. I remember feeling like I wanted to cry, that moment I eventually won was amazing, brings back some very happy childhood memories that I will treasure forever

i remember this torture. back in 97 i tried this as a 12 year old kid. try over try untill in finally beat white angel. i will never forget how infair that race its due to white angel as an npc beeing able to stear while in fucking mid air! i used a other track then the one you used, i believe its the first one in the game that i used and theres a smal bump in the road 50 meters infront of a sharp corner. if you take that bump to fast, you will fly and hit the track barriers. white angel on the other hand, can take that bump with 200mph and stear the 90 degree curve while beeing mid air. thats real bullshit. also, i never like the fact, that you have to block the car and force collisions or your cant win. its just.. not the spirit of a race. its not about beeing the better driver, its about blocking the better car and the better driver

Damn. I remember having a hard time with these three. On a loose copy i got from a friend of a friend who didn't want it. I'm glad he didn't, otherwise I might have lost out on one of the greates racing series.

Even Though RT RYUKYU wins in being the most Maneuverable car on the game it is also a Beginner car, sacrificing speed slightly. The next best car being GALAGA RT CARROT is Faster, but it's handling isn't as superior as the RT RYUKYU, it is still a better choice since it is faster

I've been able to do that on the original despite no rear-view mirror; these tracks are wider giving the rivals lots of opportunities to pass you at blazing speed even WITH the Rear-View mirror

At the time of this release near there....as soon as Resident evil 2 dropped then found out about need for speed 2 new release..i didnt touch this game until 2yrs later ..need for speed 2 was awesome also the franchise wasnt known yet.....anyways ridge racer is intense one hard nudge your against devil kid, devil 13th racer, especially angel

Doing this back in the day was truly something special. I don't remember running with 3 cars, though. Somehow, I remember it only being myself and the bosses on the track. Non-stop blocking and LUCK.

The Real Name of The Devil Car is : Soldat Crinale. Then The Real Name of the Angel car is : Kamata Angelus

I remember one of the tracks ,the only way I could beat the Devil/Angel car was to do a 360 spin/drift and this totally blocked one of the bends that it tried to pass on.

Pretty much so. The Time Trial races aren't really THAT bad, as you don't need to have a perfect driving line or anything like that. It might take couple of tries, but as long as you can block Devil/Angel car from overtaking you, it will be a smooth sailing.

Hiyo, sorry but I'm not sure if recording the Special tracks is worth it, because they are only available on Link Cable mode. And I'm aware you can use external cheats to enable them on Single Player. I might consider it, though. Still, thanks for the suggestion.
