I decided to purchase the Ridgid 18 volt chainsaw w./ 6AH battery and charger. While running my sawmill recently, i kept having to stop and trim small protruding branches off. I realized this task would be much easier with a electric chainsaw. Since i already have alot of Ridgid 18v tools, when they released their new chainsaw i decided to get one.

Thanks for posting this! I just bought this saw for myself (69 yr old widow) who was tired of fighting to start the Stihl. This was a great intro for me!

Grab and go is the perfect description of why I purchased it! I had it on the tractor while I was brush hogging yesterday and it came in so handy! Yeah my video crew works for snacks! Hahahah

I have most all of the Ridgid line including this little saw. Other than home projects, it's handy at the deer lease too. None of my Ridgid tools have failed me and I hope the saw is the same! Good video sir!

Thanks for the info. But best part of the video was the kids. I just ordered the saw from Home Depot. I hope it works for me as well.

Nice review! Did you ever compare 9ah vs 6ah battery? Your coming up on one year, would you recommend this ridgid chainsaw or should I look at a different brand??

I didn't get to do a cut amount comparison, but I've used both batteries with the saw and they both perform well. Since the initial review I have also used a friend's Milwaukee and a dewalt 60v. Honestly the Milwaukee seems like a solid unit. I dropped a 40 inch oak and did all the main stuff with my stihl saws, but we did alot of the limb work with the Milwaukee. My answer would be if your just doing some light clean up or some light firewood cutting, the Ridgid does well. If your going to use more extensively, the Milwaukee may be a better option. Do you already have Ridgid batteries? Also, whatever you decide on, check on home depots website. They seem to run package deals that are better than in-store options. Milwaukee even came out with a top handle saw. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks for watching!

think this is a good chainsaw to keep in your trunk for fallen trees blocking the road? That is my primary purpose for buying this. great vid, loved you having your kid in it, mine are all teens now, time ticks by so fast.

It is a pretty handy little saw. Do you have ridgid 18v tools already? I have used the Milwaukee chainsaw also. The Milwaukee is stronger and has a bigger bar but if you already have Ridgid stuff then might as well stick with it. Get a big battery for it if you can. They can drink the juice if your cutting larger stuff. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks for watching! And also, time sure does fly!

@@HermanWoodworksyes I already have rigid tools, battery charger and 2H 18v batteries. They probably won't work very well in this chain saw. I saw some stuff on the milwaukee, it's hard to decide when there are so many makes and models.

@dan.d if it's just the occasional lighter use the ridgid will be all good. The bar size I won't lie, is a limiting factor. The Milwaukee makes solid power and I believe has a 16 inch bar. Regardless of which one you get, the bigger batteries definitely give it the extra punch to keep them powering through cuts. I keep mine in the tractor with me when I'm brush hogging.

@@HermanWoodworks You know, this is the the 5th place I've heard the milwaukee is better. When I'm out in the middle of nowhere on a fire trail. I'm in Washington State, I need to be able to count on the chainsaw to be able to get that tree cleared, a lot of times, you can't even turn around for a looong way out there. So yeah. I'm skipping the rigid for the milwaukee. Even though I'll have to buy new batteries and a charger.
