I get asked about this a lot, the compact tools like the M12 and RP240/241 use the same size/configuration jaws and technically can be used on either tool.

Listen...I dont know why there is snarky hate for pressing on here. I've worked for a commercial plumbing company for 7 years and press is all we use on water and gas. There is an occasional leak, just like with any application. Every commercial plumbing company I know is the same. Its not about not knowing how to solder, its simple a faster way. Even when you calculate the cost of the fittings, you save money from labor. Plumbers are paid alot, and saving the time, not having to get a hot work permit and yes, it is easier...it's a win. We only solder when absolutely necessary now. Work smarter, not harder, can you imagine what that wall might look like if you had to solder that joint 😂. Oh let me guess, you would use cool gel, a fire barrier and you would still have room right!? Come on guys. This has been around for YEARS! Its proven.

True. Not using press tools is like saving pennies but losing dollars. Avoiding soldering all I can. Self employed service plumber.

Why don’t you press a coupling and extend that pipe for the next guy? How’s the next guy supposed to service that without cutting drywall?

From what ive seen if you match the kN rating the jaws are interchangeable between thw big brands at least.

Yes use them pretty consistently on my boiler installs. Shaves off alot of man hours, and the only leaks I have found so for where from operator error.

@@joshuarobertson7008100% what he said, I’ve never seen a propress fitting leak unless someone forgot to press one haha 😅 I was skeptical too but not after using it for a long time.

@@joshuarobertson7008 I had a 3 inch tee leak one time. Air tested the system at 100psi over several days and it held. Then cut the water on and it held for about a month before it leaked. Luckily it was a long time away from being close to finished and was in the mechanical room with a floor drain right there. But pipes were pushed in all the way. Wish I would have did a cross section cut on it.

Propress is definitely nicer than soldering but man a soldered joint is a hell of a lot cheaper than a propress + a separate kit

If it's your job/a business it's an investment. Plus a tax write off as well. And the cost of the fittings goes to the customer so it's really all benefit with no cons for the most part.

@@JWill6969 yea everytime someone mentions price im like..yea customer is paying for that. Sure the initial investment on the pro press and c1 tool is going to set you back $3500+ but use it once and it's addicting and time is fucking money

If your soldering against a wall that close, your gonna scorch the paint. Or worse, set something inside the wall cavity on fire. Happens quite often

Ehhh not in some cases in California sxs fittings can actually cost more then press fittings. Plus the fact soldier is almost $80 a roll. I’d still prefer to sweat but press is starting to become the new staple in plumbing. Get with it or get left.

Yes, you need the Ridgid V1 Actuator (jaws) - which are the bigger jaws. This will then compress the close quarter rings
