I bought my 1999 Roadstar 15 years ago for a fraction of the price of a comparable Harley. I am just finishing up it's first ever "repair", new fuel pump. I love this bike.

New Sub'd here. 2006 Yamaha Vstar Stryker 1300 owner. I love your channel so far. I love to support to less than 100 sub's because they are real channels, not fake going for the likes, and comments regardless whether they EARNED them, or not. Sorry for the rant, but this is awesome ! EDIT : I also own a Vulcan and a Vstar. Add Honda and you have the best three bikes, ever.

Only had mine for 2 years and bobbed it, but damn is this a fun and great looking bike! Running dual Vance & Hines, open air filter and dynojet stage 2 kit. The rev limiter is even more apparent now so will fix that for next season 😁

I own a 2018 900 Vulcan classic lt & a 2012 roadstar Silverado s & can tell you 1st hand the Vulcan is all the roadstar isn’t accept in 2 areas. My roadstars 2x larger motor 1700cc (65hp/99lbs trq has quite s lot more noticeable trq then the Vulcans half size 900ccs 49-50hp/58lbs trq. Ny Vulcan lt/light touring weights approx 125lbs less then the roadstar but the diff in frame overall design feels like the Vulcan is like you said 200lbs lighter which is great for post 2 back operation & a recent quad heart bypass operations. I had 2 roadstar s over the yrs & for the money they are gray rock solid reliable. bikes. My friend has an 05 roadstar & the only thing we had to do to that bike in 90k miles/18yrs is replace the clutch spring that hot weak over time causing clutch to slip a bit in 5th gear up hill under load when it had 50k miles on it. Since I/we caught it early before he overheated & toasted the clutch plates I installed a 15-20% stronger clutch spring for $125 (inc spring & clutch cover gasket) & that’s it in all that time & miles other then std maint like tires,oil filter & xfer case oil changes & 3 batteries & that’s it. IIve been riding bikes on the road every yr since 1972 & have owned most Jap bikes & few yrs back an HD FLHTCU Electroglide ULTRA classic & there’s no way the avg Hd gos those miles & yrs without significant money spent on maint & repair! Back to the Vulcan,other then s bit lighter & smaller feeling I ride it 2 up most of the time bags loaded inc 3rd bag on rear rack and it’s got more then enough trq to handle all the same long steep mountain grades I ride here in NYS in 5th gear without going full throttle which was s pleasant surprise Bering half the motor at 900cc. But when highway cruising above 65mph it needs s 6th gear. I can Improve that a bit for $100 & 2hrs work by installing a 2tooth larger drive pulley yo reduce cruise rpm a bit. It will make it cruise at 68-70-mph at same rpm it used to cruise at 65-66mph with the 2 tooth smaller stock oem drive pulley which helps s bit. The Vulcan motor cleanly rec’s to 5500 rpm or so with little vibration vs the roadstar hitting rev limiter at a woefully low boating 4200rpm like a tractor motor! I’ve seen a few Vulcan 900’s also approaching 100k miles with little to no major repairs required do that’s good he’s too. My 2012 efi nicely optioned roadstar is currently listed for sale online at (Dutchess recreational vehicles) in Poughkeepsie ny. Its got only 16k miles in great cond,avg retail is $6,900 & asking price is $5,999. But that price has some wiggle room & reasonable offers are encouraged! I added a lrg jagg oil cooler with automatic therm controlled Elec cooling fan,a tack,external crankcase breather to keep hot oil soaked crankcase gases out of the intake,progressive front springsfor better handling & less fork dive while braking,brighter Piaa spot & headlight,rear luggage rack to hold 3rd luggage bag,front & rear 12v usb power sources & mist of all $800 front & rear ULTIMATE memory foam seat that’s like sitting in you living room when riding! Also installed NGK iridium plugs to Tony need to be changed till bike hits 60k miles.

I've got a 1999 Road Star 1600 Silverado. First year of the 1600. It's a beast that rides like a dream. It will eat a Vulcan off the start. He's riding scared. My 1600 clocked 0-60 in 3.4. I cruise all day at 85mph/136kmph

Hello,i m (2.00m)-6.5 feet i want to buy a cruiser from your experience what to you recomand me. Sorry four my english.
@greasycanadianbiker
@greasycanadianbiker 3 ай бұрын
Well sir, u need to sit on as many as possible. The Harleys are excellent as the controls can be altered, forward controls, higher seats, larger bars - all of that will definitely assist you in being more comfortable. At 6'5" are you sure a cruiser is the way to go? Maybe look at the taller adventure bikes. U may find they are more comfortable. But really..... huge dudes ride cruisers so u just need to go into some shops and talk with the dealers. If they are serious about selling you a bike they will be serious about helping you find one that is comfortable.
@MaaZeus
@MaaZeus 2 ай бұрын
As a 6.3 feet (1.92m) finding a decent cruiser can be a pain. Forward controls are a must, preferably extended ones, and forget about floorboards because they force your legs into a position where your knees are usually too high, tires out your hips on long rides. Thankfully changing floor boards to pegs is usually a simple job so it is not a deal breaker. Bars also need to be high enough that you can sit your back straight and not hunch over them. Mini apes may be a good aftermarket upgrade.

@@greasycanadianbiker I agree. Switched from HD to Road Star bikes in 2001, and haven't looked back. I purchased a brand new 1999 Road King. I kept the bike for 16 months, and it was in the shop for 7 of those 16. This was my 16th HD bike, and the quality of the bikes were getting worse with every one I bought. After dumping the Road King in 2002 I bought a 1999 Road Star with 10K miles. When I sold the bike it had 181K miles on it, and all I ever did was basic maint. I'm on my third Road Star right now a 2003 Silver Edition. This bike has 61K miles on it, and runs and looks like new.
