We like to think of Eric Marcotte as "The People's Champ". For most cycling fans, his claim to fame is winning BOTH the US Pro National Road Race and the US Pro National Criterium while maintaining is full-time chiropractic practice - seeing dozens of clients each week. In Episode 9, we travel to Safford, AZ, home of the Arizona State Hill Climb Championship on Mount Graham that twists up more than 6,000 ft of elevation gain on what appears to be the wet dream of a civil engineer. Eric chats with State Bicycle Co. team newcomer, Chris Tolley, on unorthodox training methods, music, and nutrition.
About the Series: "Riding Fixed, Up Mountains, With Pros." The concept is simple, we wanted to get to know our favorite Pro cyclists and what better way to conduct a natural interview than on the bike, taking them out of their comfort zone just a bit by doing in with NO GEARS (and no brakes sometimes).

@statebicycle 5 жыл бұрын
what is the difference (asking sincerely)?
@tropfen
@tropfen 5 жыл бұрын
@@statebicycle Techno is more or less the reason edm exists. it has a very long history starting in detroit in the early 80s. edm is mostly referred to house genres, dubstep and similar. also edm is mostly around 120-125 bpm whilst techno starts at 125 with a more or less open end. techno is also more monotonous with repeating rhythms or melodies in 8/16 or 32 bars. house i.e. has shorter loops. furthermore you can tell the difference by comparing what you hear to "utz utz utz utz" (techno) or "utz katz utz katz" (house). but that's only to give an idea and it's not a safe method to distinguish techno from edm. both communities are vastly different. whilst edm is the colorful and happy side of the electronic genre, techno represents the serious and dark side. the techno scene is incredibly welcoming and open minded. greatest parties you can go to in terms of vibes and people. my experiences with edm weren't even remotely as good. the techno community tends to be elitist. we differentiate mainstream techno from straight techno. mainstream techno tends to have low production value (recycled samples, melodies and rhythms) which kinda kills the beauty of techno. they may sound nice but it always feels like you heard that track before even though you didn't. techno generally requires more experience and knowledge of music and sounds then edm as you have very few sounds to work with so they have to be more profound to sound right in the bigger picture. furthermore it's hard to create emotion with few sounds which is one of the reasons i love it so much. it's a musical representation of fast paced minimalism. if you're interested in getting to know techno i can recommend the youtube channels HATE and Jaelos. that would be straight techno. Drumcode would be considered mainstream/low production value techno. i'm personally from germany and the techno scene here is really big due to the 90s. maybe that's the reason why we value it so much that we are not part of the edm community. i heard that it's not really the case in the US as mdma never took off as much as in europe.
