That whistle!! To me it sounds like 3751’s 6-chime, but with the added emotion and intensity of 3751’s original 5-chime. Must be the 290 psi/superheated steam. Goosebumps for days!

yeah even with earplugs you could feel it in your chest. Engine 2926 is a beast of a locomotive, they have been restoring with all volunteer labor for over 10 years.

The ATSF-6 and SP-6 were quite similar in terms of chamber lengths.

@@AdricM You know, I was wondering why one video when you pull the stick towards you it only has that one pitch and in this video you change the pitch by moving the stick aside.

To all the people wondering, yes. This is SP 4449's 6 chime that she used from 1986 - 1990. BUT, 2926's owners didn't steal the 6 chime.

Yeah when i heard the start is was a little familiar then i realized through the rest of the short it was Sp 4449s 6 chime whistle.

Note Matt working the independent brake. 2926 did not want to creep back and forth on a siding, she wanted to fly. Matt compared it to driving a Corvette in a parking garage.

Great to see 2926 in such great shape after all the restore/rebuild work !! She's looking good. I hope this engine has such talented people working with it that 2926 is still happily steaming along the tracks in another 100 years, keeping history Alive and in person, instead of just a fading memory.

Huge major 7 chord perfectly in tune, that's all it is. Just goes to show how rare it is for the whistle/horn manufacturer to get the chimes in tune, they're probably deaf from being railroad guys

That’s the SP 6 chime whistle, the same one used on the 4449!

Did you add PTC components to the cab of 2926, during the restore, so it can get out on main line tracks and interact with Positive Train Control ?? (that way, other trains know where you are on mainline track without constant radio communicatoons)

Im a fan and a supporter, but i im not one of the glorious people working on her. but yeah, it now has ptc i think.. and they also hooked it up so it can control a desil pusher from 2926

I think the link you sent is actually for ATSF’s 6 chime whistle, not the 4449s SP 6 chime. This must have been an earlier video cause I can not find any other videos with this whistle

Not yet, although on its two excursions outside the restoration yard, they did have a seat for a few local dignitaries. and for a donation they allowed cab tours during the day. they are fixing to bringit out for the 3rd time this weekend, this time they are taking it to downtown for overnight at the raliyards.
