The Hovsco HovAlpha is a fat tire ebike with a torque sensor and a relatively large 48 volt 20 ah battery priced competitively relative to bikes of the same legal class 2 and 3 performance. The torque sensor on the Hovsco HovAlpha ebike allows you to apply power in proportion to hard hard you press on the pedals, which is different then the typical "cadence" sensor or speed sensor that simply gives a set level of power for each pedal assist level of the electric bike. This video gives you a realistic range test of a 48 volt 20 ah fat tire ebike with a 200 lb rider making good use of the power and having fun, and also climbing some giant hills torturing the sutto geared hub motor on the rear wheel of the ebike.

Wouldn't mind seeing you do this run with the Philodo H8 ... would love to see those dual motors on these hills... but you'd have to pedal most of the way to save battery by only using the rear motor

I've heard some people say step through frames don't handle as well as frames with top tubes. Have you experienced this?

In theory, a step through frame will not have as good handling as a traditional bike frame because a step thru frame has a little bit more flex to it. In practice when I’m riding an Ebike, especially when keeping it on the streets, there is basically no noticeable difference in handling. The difference in handling is gonna come if you’re doing off roading. Also since this Ebike has front suspension, the suspension is going to take the majority of the shock rather than the frame, minimizing frame flex.

You are the only big name who reviews the underrated Hovsco E-bikes and those established bastards like Electric Bike Report are too busy reviewing inferior, subpar e-bikes they are getting sponsors from and have the audacity to call the inferior Aventon Sinch 2 as one of the best folding e-bikes of 2024! The Hovsco Hovbeta has been out for over a year now and is in every way, superior to the Aventon Sinch 2 except only the battery displays and that channel still hasn't reviewed it yet...shame on them! Keep up the great work!

I can smell hot electrics from here. Really you could just take us on tours using same bike and I’d watch them- entertaining. You should call this “regen hill” and reclaim some electrons if possible. Or just bring a Spare battery

American ingenuity at 10:12. The guy selling bottled water out of his carport. He's got everything set up quite nice. E.g., calling it "Last Chance Water," as if you are about to cross the desert. I wonder what you get for tossing a buck into that "$1 Information" bucket. Best line of the video: Matt saying to the water seller: "You could run a business just doing . . . " then saying "Well, I guess you kind of are man." I don't know why I found that funny, but I do. P.S. I wonder why he's selling Last Chance water for only $1.00 (probably tried a higher price and people were not buying).

A bit noisier than other bikes you've ridden... I've also noticed that some bikes have more rim/tire wobble. I'd have to imagine that's gonna waste some energy especially with wide tires.

a bit of soapy water to reseat the tyre is all you need. My rear tyre was 'off' when i got it, 5 minutes to massage it right in place.

If you're throttling over 20mph you are not a class 3 bike.

@mr.clueless7438 of course they do but they're supposed to cut off at 20. Admittedly some states ebike language implies no throttle at all but I think they meant to say no "working" throttle above 20.
