Such a contrast with all the bikes and ebikes traveling so quietly and then the motorcycle drives by destroying the tranquility of the ride. I never thought much about how much noise is happening around me until I started riding my ebike on trails and started enjoying the quietness.

This was fun to watch. Never been to Chicago-now I have. Lol. Love “Mrs. Right” and “Daughter Right”. Nice that you can share biking with them. Something I am learning from you while hearing about your riding a bike with a recovered knee replacement is how you alternate pedaling with throttling. I’m thinking I better buy a bike that has a throttle. I had been researching bikes, such as specialized and gazelle, which do not have throttles. With two recent knee replacements, I think I’m better off getting one with a throttle so that I can pedal and rest/throttle as I go. Otherwise, I bet I’ll need to stop to rest my legs every so often. What is difficult for me where I live is that the few bike shops nearby only service the brands they sell. They sell only the higher end brands. I did find a bike shop about an hour away that will service other brands. I may end up having to go there because I am not mechanical at all, and don’t want to learn to be. 😀🚴‍♂️

Hi Russ, Good video, I enjoyed watching this very much, I would have loved to have been there. Glad it was a nice day for it, I feel bad for that person needing medical help though, I hope they're ok. When you hit the bump, I said out loud, what a big bump, then you said it too, surprising to see such a bump on the highway, seems unsafe. Yesterday I tried doing a video and my helmet visor covered the top half of the video, man I was pissed off lol, but that's life. My e-bike is supposed to be water resistant with waterproof connections and be able to ride in the rain, this is what my e-bike dealer said and claims yet I've ridden in the rain a few times and each time the next day I get a little dirty water leaks out. But when I would feel the bike, it was dry, no water drops anywhere. Very puzzling, I contacted the store and told them the 1st time it happened and they couldn't understand either. Sunday, I rode home in the rain so yesterday morning, I did some testing to see where the water could be coming out from and I figured it out. My kickstand has a hole on the side and it lines up with my rear wheel which collects water in it and pools down inside the kickstand and keeps it until I tilt my e-bike forward and then it comes out from the same hole. Thank you for sharing your fun ride, wish I was there. 😎

Chicago is notorious for its potholes. It's just the weather and then the salt from when they salt the roads during the winter. It just would be nice if they would have covered the obvious potholes rather than just spray painting them. And yeah, that was a big bump.

Hey! Russ maybe come back with what you've done to get the 9Level PAS with your MC ebike. I'm thinking I might benefit from 'multi' level to avoid 'ghost' pedalling. I have the Jaguarundi 52V /750W motor. I'm 5.'10''and weight only 150lbs. So I feel the ebike is overtaking me sometimes. Tks.
@RussIsRight
@RussIsRight 10 ай бұрын
I think the only thing that could help with ghost pedaling is the changing of the chainring or the cassette. Going to 52T on the chainring or down to 11T on the cassette helps a lot, but that would be modifying the bike to do that.

Hey Russ. Great video. I have a couple of questions. Do you have to get to the ride at 6:30? And where did you park? Millennium Parking garage? thanks again for all your videos love watching them!
@RussIsRight
@RussIsRight 10 ай бұрын
No, you can start later, but they tell you that if you don't get on the Lake Shore Drive by at least 7:30 AM, you won't be able to finish the entire ride. Remember, they clear everyone off by 10:30 AM, so you really need to get there early enough to enjoy the ride at a leisurely pace. I did park underground at the Millennium Parking. We started actually at Grant Park, but since we parked in the garage called Millennium Park Garage, that word was stuck in my brain so I ended up saying we started at Millennium Park (which we did not).

Thanks for the info. I asked about the "logistics" of this bike ride since I usually never go into the city anymore and the parking situation is what I was most concerned with. @@JoeCGee There we’re so many cars with bike racks on them that I felt it would be ok to leave mine on our car as well. I had planned to put it inside the SUV but figured, “Why bother?” Plenty of more expensive racks were there to steal if someone wanted one. 🤣

Coincidently, I saw you had a video on the Elk Grove trail, we were at that same trail a week prior to Bike the Drive doing the Busse Woods Night Bike ride. Ones that use a DC direct drive motor, like the original Rad City Russ mentioned, or you can check Grin Technologies’ videos on how to lock the clutch on a geared hub motor to make it regen when you stop pedaling. They also sell motors that have regen capability. Note any of those will slow you down whenever you cease pedaling or using the throttle.

Haven't heard from you in a while! Welcome back to the comment section! Yes, helmets are required. The other riders going the other way probably started at the area we are riding towards. Eventually, we do a U-Turn and head back on that side of the road as well. The official start is where we started, but you can start at the end and ride all the way to the other end. These other people probably did it that way.
