Aloha everyone!
Just installed my passenger pegs and have my HRP comfort seat so I figured I’d post the first ride with a passenger and with myself as a passenger! Just a test ride around the neighborhood. It went great! This is just for fun😁
Mahalo for watching!

Hey, mine doesn’t do deceleration pops but it does a gurgling noise when I decelerate. The gurgling noise is common, do you have a 300 or 500? I have a 500. I know some exhaust pipes you would need to take out the baffle depending on if you have a 300 or 500

You two make the 500 look so big. I'm 6'1" and mine fits me pretty snug, although I prefer it that way. I don't have a pillion seat, so I solo ride. I am curious as to how it handles when taking curves with a passenger on board.
@samuelf8879

Like any other bikes the passenger has to move with you and your breaking power will be substantially less
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’m 5’1” and my friend is 5’6” so there’s a big difference between our height and yours haha. But you always want your passenger to be online with you. If you lean, they lean the same way. It wasn’t too bad having her on. For slower curves, I just had to really play with the throttle and clutch

Can you tell a difference in the handlebars when a passenger is on this bike? My rebel becomes EXTREMELY back heavy just from adding a trunk to it... And it causes the handlebars to become unstable at 45mph. If I take my hands off the bars, they begin to wobble.. But if I have no trunk on, they stay straight... This bike seems to not be made for any extra weight on the back!... Did you notice anything like that with a 2nd person on it?
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
I did notice just a SLIGHT difference when removing my hands from the handlebars at medium speed(slowing down below 50mph), it was a bit shakey. Anything above 50 was fine when removing both hands. It wasn’t much of a change to me because I don’t drive without hands often, I usually have one on the handlebars at all times. And I didn’t notice the bike being anymore back heavy with extra weight. The weight didn’t feel like much a difference to me...
@noot7109
@noot7109 3 жыл бұрын
@@LyssaWithAnE I fixed mine by mounting the big trunk on the fender instead of on a rack that leaned out behind the bike. But I was worried about that front wheel wobble because it means the back of the bike has so much weight on it that the front wheel is now lighter and less planted on the road. On the highway, going up hill at 75 mph, i hit a small tar bump one time and the wheel came off the ground briefly. Was terrifying. So now I try to make sure the weight is more towards the center of the bike instead of on the back.
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
😳 that sounds terrifying and informational, thank you for sharing your experience! I’ll definitely keep that in mind now... that’s crazy to imagine though. It’d definitely take me a few weeks to get back to riding if that were to happen to me honestly👀

Wow, such a great video. Can you do more of a "how to" carry a passenger video? Do you get on first or do they? Do they put their feet down? Just want to start carrying a passenger but not entirely sure how.
@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! I definitely want to do this and make a video for you guys on how to carry a passenger. I’m actually fairly a new rider myself, so I might not have the best words of wisdom. But I can make a video of what works for me and what I’ve learned from the MSF course and also from my experience so far! I’m just waiting for the weather to clear up here in California, and I’ll try to start on that filming!😁 But for starters, the driver supposed to get on first and hold onto the handle brake so the bike is a bit more stable as the passenger gets on. They keep their feet on the passenger pegs at all time. And if you don’t have a sissy bar, you want to have them hold onto you and move with your body.
@radar4799
@radar4799 2 жыл бұрын
You the rider should get on first, stand the bike up straight & plant both your feet firmly on the ground & be ready to brace yourself & the bike for the extra weight transfer of the passenger. Then when your ready signal to the passenger its OK to get on. When you stop get ready plant both feet on the ground holding bike upright & brace yourself for the weight transfer again... The tell your passenger its OK to get off. Tell the pillion passenger to lean with you and the bike on corners! Newbie or first time pillion passengers may or will try to stay sitting straight upright which will make turning corners very difficult or could make the bike not turn & go straight ahead. Also the pillion passenger should stay as still as possible Freeze! As any sudden movement or moving around can effect the bikes stability while riding or even steer the bike not where you want to go.

@LyssaWithAnE
@LyssaWithAnE 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks wind sister, I appreciate the support! Santa still hasn’t come yet, but maybe next paycheck for that GoPro😅😂 and it wasn’t that hard riding with a passenger honestly! Before riding, I told them to stay inline with my body, if I lean one way, they lean the same way, making sure not to counter my weight! The hardest part of riding with a passenger was starting from a complete stop because of the extra weight and coming to a complete stop😂 and shifting gears from low speeds so their helmet wasn’t knocking mine😂
