Guitarist Nick DiSalvo deconstructs the repetitive arpeggios, little licks, and slick pull-offs that piece together a headbanger from 'Reflections of a Floating World'.

As soon as I heard this riff, with the sputtery fuzz on the album recording, I knew I was in for something great.

the first test I put any fuzz or amp through is the "does it Sanctuary" test. Glad this is a thing.

Late to the game on Elder but as soon as I heard this band I was instantly enthralled with all of their albums. Was lucky enough to see them live last night and they slayed.

DiSalvo is an amazing player,You know Elder has evolved from a decent Stoner band to a very Progressive Psychadelic Brew that few new bands can touch.The Silver N Gold sessions(2019) changed the way I viewed my own playing/There's so much going on that it borders area's of Fusion N African rythms.You don't hear their music You see it.

I agree. I liked their stoner stuff, however when they shifted more to progressive psychedelic heavy rock with the album “Lore” and beyond is where I find myself listening to the most

I’ve always loved Elder. However, from this album on they have gone on to become one of the most important modern progressive rock bands on a level with Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Dream Theater. Like the aforementioned bands, Elder are not just playing progressive rock. They are carrying it forward in the same spirit of bands like King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Rush, Genesis, and Yes did in the early 70’s. All that aside, killer band!🤘

Elder rulz. Nick doesnt give himself enough credit. Music theory is one thing but intelligence and talent/creativity is the ultimate in music writing. This guy is on a high level. Elder riffs and arngements are incredible. Wish he was a bit more gifted with the pipes. Cheers.

Sure he may not have the highest range or use vibrato very often, but I love his vocals, especially on the songs Lore, Blind, Release

I've been following the band since around the time of their Spires Burn EP, and anyone living in the Providence area who was into this type of music was pretty lucky, because we had ample opportunities to see them live locally. After Nick moved to Germany and the band (with the exception of bassist Jack Donovan) was eventually based there, of course their live shows here became much less frequent. Just saw them live a few days ago, though, and it was killer. Cool to see that Premiere Guitar thought their riffs were worthy of rundown. I've been trying to figure out some of their stuff for awhile.

@MrACangusyoungDC
@MrACangusyoungDC Жыл бұрын
I would guess he relies mostly on a good Marshall or Hiwatt and set the pharaoh to boost, overdrive and fuzz but keep it quite open still. Otherwise you loose the jack hammer quality of the string attack. High volume medium fuzz maybe? A good Marshall should screams quite well on it's own
