I put Faulken Wildpeaks AT 265/70r17 on my Dmax. I did a prerego GVM upgrade to 3.45t with Pedders and a Norweld canopy with extreme wiring package, 130L upright Bushman fridge and ARB twin compress. Also attached the ARM Summit bar and two recovery points. I plan to pop on a Hayman Reece rear Xbar, Rhino rake and Clearview next gen mirrors. Really happy with the setup as a touring package and its doing around 11.5L/100km at 2.7t

I thought Engel was a no brainer. I’ve had one for 16 yrs and has been in use for 14 of those. Appreciate the run down of the gear you’ve chosen because there’s a sea of products available plus the full solar, lithium, inverter, induction plate, toaster, kettle camping debate to wrap ya head around also. Top run down and build again mate..

How big is the tray and canopy? Looks good on dmax.

Go for maxxis Razr AT's or MT's. Much better on wet tar and super silent.

I was told if you change your wheel/tyres post GVM/GCM upgrade you void ur warranty from the manufacturer. The gvm upgrade has been engineered with a specific wheel/tyre combo & by changing it the manufacturer has no data on the new combo you’ve fitted. I’d check with the manufacturer &/or insurance before changing wheels.

Hilux was better 🤣 but yes I get you our N70 payloads/GCM are rubbish. I’m waiting & buying a decent tow vehicle when series 2 FTruck avail at the dealerships.

Nice build. Towpro should be between you and passenger and teach passenger how to apply trailer brakes in emergency. It might save your bacon one day in trailer sway situation. I have a manual MY18 Dmax spacecab with canopy myself with pre first reg in Vic Lovells GVM GCM upgrade. I am up at about 3.2T not towing without putting 60 litres of diesel in under tray tank diesel tank. 40 litre under tray water tank too but full though. All the fruit for tourer (not towing) build. So 400 kg left if I tow light say 250 kg on ball only 150 kg more payload before max GVM. I have all my recovery gear plus winch and camp gear onboard in a tray of Drifta drawers but fridge and second battery in cabin. We sleep in alloy load bearing roofed Canopy surrounded by canvas. OEM alloy tray with Landcruiser height head board. 6 x Toyo AT II 245/70 R16 on oem steelies. Consider Outback Armour Jounce stops to replace your bump stops front and rear. They may save a bent chassis under certain conditions whilst towing. They are progressive bump stops. All my weight down low between axles. Be careful of weight behing rear wheels. Tow ball mass of 200 kg adds 300 kgs to rear axle load in round figures as 100 kg will come off front axle load.
