What he's talking about near the end is called a Reactive Load Box - the best two that i've discovered are the Rivera Rockcrusher and the Fryette Power Load IR or Powerstation. Using an IR in-the-box is usually more convenient. You can just hook them up between the head and the cab and attenuate the actual volume plus get a DI signal out to the DAW interface. They are a game changer for getting YOUR OWN AMPs tones out to the PC without waking the whole block and having the police called on you. DO NOT power up a head without either a speaker cab or load box connected to a speaker output. That will destroy the amps output transformer.

I have 85 in bridge, single vol in one guitar and a Bonebreaker Neck pup in bridge to aporoximate a 60a in another. The 85 is alnico and 81 is ceramic, and if anyone wants to put an 85 in bridge, its awesome. Another guitar has an Invader to fill out my passive category

This man is just awesome. Back in the day i watched the making of for "those whom the..." and was fascinated that both of them used their 79 series deans. They also used them in many videos and live. Now he enjoys the hell out of his js series. I mean this is his life and he toured all over the world and most fellow guitar players i know complain more about the sound you can "only" get with expensive instruments than play the things in front of an audience. Really inspiring. Btw: you are a great host!

Love Dallas. 100% correct that pickups are pretty much your sound. Pickups, amp + FX. The wood's effect on sound is minimal compared. Just get any guitar you like with good frets etc, put some good pickups in it and boom. Also right there with him on the knob being right underneath where I strum is annoying as hell. It's cool that certain guitar brands are starting to realize this and move the knob more towards the bridge. Certain Solar guitars have this for instance.

Once you get into the high gain territory, the pickups barely matter. At that point you're really just hitting the front of the amp at certain input level. If you're using a set of passive duncans, you're probably using an OD pedal to boost anyways. You're nearly at EMG territory at that point. If you really want to change your tone, switch your amp cab instead.

Yes! And the speaker and how the mic is positioned makes the most difference in the tone. I still prefer the feel of passive over active. And for NW I actually do not use much gain, so the difference is more noticeable.

I gotta call bullshit on the pickups being 90% of the tone,tone comes out of the last thing in line,THE SPEAKERS
@MrRyanshreds
@MrRyanshreds 28 күн бұрын
Yes, speakers absolutely make the biggest difference in your overall tone. I think given the context of the conversation, Dallas meant more the tone of the guitar. Like of any guitar component, woods, bridge, frets etc, pickups are the sound of the guitar. We probably should’ve clarified in the vid. Hope this helps!

@@MrRyanshreds In Nile how did Karl get 2 signature Dean guitars and Dallas didn't get one. I find it strange that Dallas didn't make his Dean custom shop black V with the maple fingerboard his signature guitar.
