www.premierguitar.com/Video/20... Premier Guitar's Rebecca Dirks is on location in Chicago where she catches up with Animals As Leaders guitarists Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes. In this segment, the guys discuss their 8-string guitars, the patches they use on their Axe-FX, and why they still incorporate a traditional amp head and cab into their rigs.

Rebecca Dirks is by far the best host of the Premier guitar Rig rundowns! From a fans point of view and mine I feel like she knows her stuff and always asks the right questions unlike some of the other goofy hosts on this channel. I heard she is no longer w premier guitar and if that is true that is a total bummer because I really enjoy her videos more then the other hosts on the Rig Rundown!

Tosin is a helluva player, and an insanely nice guy. It's refreshing to see someone who possesses such a high level of both skill & knowledge remain ever humble, and emotionally grounded. Abasi is just a glimpse at where the future of guitar is headed. It's slowly becoming a quasi-recombinant of guitar and bass styles. With FX technology soaring, it nearly makes the guitar's sonic, and creative possibilities endless.

久另蔡 I actually don't think that happened. Now that I've watched it again, looks like they did the pick thing last, but cut into the middle of the video, then they had to get back to Rebecca to conclude Javier's section. So it would have gone directly from kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q5ukd7Fjq7zOf4E.html to the link you posted. Weird, eh?

Finally, they talk about how they use the fractal. Thank-you PG. Telling someone you use the fractal says almost nothing. Knowing what amps and settings they use within the unit is way better.

Their music is really not my favorite and I don't listen to them often but I have to say tosin is the most interesting and the most innovative rock guitar player since I'd probably say Jimi Hendrix and he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Agreed! I saw 'em here in Arizona and I'll be honest, I was quite bored and after 2 songs, I felt missing with lyrics (Mainly because the opening band played a nearly 3 hour set of just guitar bass and drums...It was aganizing) And i'll admit, while i wasn't impressed with their show in terms of music, I feel Tosin DEFINITELY is very innovative and uses the 8 string in the best way possible, when you think of interesting and unique 8 string playing, Tosin is always who I think of. Even if i'm not a fan of his music, there's no denying he's one of the best 8 string players ever. And hell, even as a guitarist, since he doesn't use the lowness of the 8 string to chug heavy chords.

May I just point out how often people compare Tosin to Jimi? They're both amazing guitarists but whats another thing they have in common? They're both colored guitarists. I feel that's another reason why people compare the two so specifically.
@karniboy6549

Tristen P truthfully I seem them differently ...I think it's an 'age' thing....as in, at the time. like jimmi introduced faster and harder playing in his guitar solos while still having soul and meaning, otherwise why would so many players reference him? he was first and best known for taking guitar and making it meaningful...and tosin's playing is the way to respond to the trend of guitarists with 8 strings chugging low F# chords and flabby soulless music...and he used the lower tunings to his advantage with more rhythmic and meaningful playing. irs apples to oranges and both have their skills but irs a matter of taste because they are truthfully radically different...lol

The Matrix is a Power Amplifier, it makes the preamp signal LOUD. The Axe FX II is a digital FX processor, and guitar Pre-amp. All of the effects, and amp modeling are coming from it. However, the AF2 is only a line-level unit. It's output signal is not designed to drive speakers, but rather feed headphones or a computer. The Matrix is needed to amplify the Axe FX 2's signal, and thus drive the speaker cab volume. Hope that helps.....

Sort of. He is going from the Analog Out of the Axe FX to the front of the Port City. So he is using both the preamp, and the power section of the Port City. As he says, the Matrix is his backup power amp which he is using right now since the Port City had blown a tube the night before.
