www.premierguitar.com PG's Chris Kies is On Location in Des Moines, IA, at People's Court where he catches up with country/metal artist Hank Williams III.
In this Rig Rundown segment, Hank Williams III walks us through both his setups that he uses on a nightly basis--one for his traditional country set and another for his metal set. For the country set, Hank III uses Guild SB-37 acoustics through a Randall head and Port City 2x12 cabs. During the metal set, he uses Guild Nightbird solidbodies through an original VHT Pitbull 2x12. His pedalboard includes a Dunlop wah, Electro-Harmonix POG 2, and an original ProCo Turbo Rat fuzz pedal.

@@robertdemario9631 he bought sleeps old matamp slave power amps and cabs with a custom green electric amp head with el34 power tubes. He has another white electric with kt88 power section since. That was the add doom rig

The Randalll is a solid state head and Has been on the road over 10 years and has never had a issue. If you need a constant dependable amp and your doing 200 shows a year. Solid stae is a great way to save some money if ya need to.If your going for the big full tone tubes rock just depends on your situation and what your going for.But for Acoustic instruments The Rg100's have a unique tone.

The rg100 was also a huge part of the Nola death metal sound. Acid bath,crowbar, etc. That and the ampeg vh140 and ss150 was all over paralysis and soilent green, as well as tons of other death and grindcore records. Some solid state amps are amazing and can do things many tube amps can't.

Dee Rocker: That or....it always cracks me up when in the past I've brought in guitars to sell or trade, and the first thing the sales person starts doing is pointing out all of the scratches and scrapes before they even plug it in and play it....hahha Obviously if it was a crappy guitar, I wouldn't have played it so much. When I go to look at used gear,I always try out the wore out ones first...Thanks for reading my authentic jibberish..

Man, I wish I had been at this show, I’m a Des Moines native and I had no idea he was at Peoples in ‘11. Also, it’s a shame People’s Court closed down, now it’s a sleezeball dance club and I avoid that place like the plague.

my favorite amp happens to be a 1981 fender bullet 1x8. sounds dumb but with an extension 1x15 bass cab it rips for heavy stuff.

I think III is a very interesting musician as he plays both classic country and metal and a lot of the time even fuses them together like he did in "Drunk Again". Also fun fact, he played bass with Phil Anselmo in a band called Superjoint Ritual.
